I'm an average 40 year office guy but I too am fascinated by these GBB beat boxers. Absolutely amazing talent. I'm not only impressed with the range of sounds they can achieve, but also their song composition, their ability to maintain a solid tempo and their ability to change their routine last minute in response to their competitor. I must have watched that DLOW vs Tomazacre battle 50 times.

A little explanation, the bass that codfish is using is called throat bass and is a tecnice that uses the vocalists, you could do it by press your throat when you do like a constipated guy voice, codfish and tomazacre are the two some of the best beatboxers with this tecnice and almost all the basses that they use are frome his throat

The Sound that Tomzacre's producing is a variety of Inward bass I think where you inhale a lot of air but you inhale it very powerful... and the sound thay Codfish is producing is called Throat bass Where the air is going outwards and the vibration of your throat combine with pressure it will sound deep and robotic

Deep Bass sound Tomazacre used is called inward Bass done by breathing in and vibrating your vocal cords that way. The one codfish uses is vocal Bass otherwise known as outward Bass which is done like when you clear your throat, but hold it. Inward Bass is basically the same, but opposite airflow. Codfush I really good with vocal Bass, where Tomazacre is really good with inward. The people known as the Kings of inward Bass are Inertia who's an American beatboxer, and Vocoda who was once known as Audical. Another good and unique form of vocal Bass shown is the beatboxing video I'm an alien by indicator who's vocal Bass is quite amazing. MB14 Is a beatboxer that is more instrument replication for his beats. D-low is a UK beatboxer known for trap and house. Tomazacre is known for his skrillex/dubstep style. River is known for his spit snare. Remix is known for his unique vocal Bass and nice inward combined with the duck noise which is higher pitch to cause a layered tone. Improver for his combos. Etc, I could go on for paragraphs. The judges vote based on technicality (difference of beats and amount of sounds used in difficult ways), musicality (turning into actual music and not just random noises), technique (how they structure their routine), and that just about covers it.

They make those deep noises in a number of ways, Throat bass is what codfish uses, inward throat bass is what tomozacare uses which utilises breathing inward in order to mantain it for a long time. I wouldn't recommend learning these for a youtube video tho as they take a long time and you can only practice for short periods of time as it will hurt after a while and you can damage your vocal chords if you're gonna do it too much

Hey, you can do this. Start now. Learn to replicate single noises cleanly like a snare or hi hat. Then start playing with the timing and melody. Once you have a couple of sounds you can do easily and naturally play with switching the beat patterns. It takes time, and doesn't start smoothly. Persistence is key!
