Their reproductive quickness was too much for a limited amount of desert reanimated corpses. I guess the Skaven wanted some desert bones to chew.

Unless it's an expedition force not really because there is no food for them in the deserts. The Tomb Kings need no food so it's their playground entirely.

They have gattling guns... Why not just mass produce guns instead of wasting metal on melee armor and weapon.

i believe inlore reason is that there are a whole lot of skavenslaves and pointy sticks than they have bullets, which i think are made from warpstone, a very strategic resource that they use it for nukes, flame/warp trhowers, to power siegue engines, to snort it and create abominations, u call it, fire/warp arms are a quirk of clan, uh, only one clan or so. on a more realistic note u might want to ask why irl nation still have armies, instead of producing a disgusting amount of nuclear weapons and call it a day.
