Who rushed it? Revelation came out in 1999, Chroniclas in 2000. And after 2 years, Eidos forced them to release the game for the christmas time in 2002. But they couldn't do it because they weren't finished yet. So they released it in the middle of 2003, after more than 2 years. And they couldn't manage to develop one decent game in such a long time?

@@DerTypausBielefeld They made mistakes, like letting not so expert people working on it at the start, so they couldn't do much apart of characters design, story and art, just that in 1 year.

@@MLPForever Eidos made some mistakes too. Core used the image of a real archaeologist, Jean-Yves Empereur, and Eidos didn't even manage to ask him for his permission, which is why he said he was going to sue them unless they stop using his image in the games. So Core was forced to swap the character of him in the game with Werner Von Croy even though they already developed so much with Empereur and the entire story makes no sense this way any more. Why would a German guy live in Frence? Why did he work on some strange stuff now when he was recently working in Egypt? Lara called him an old friend that he never was, and she was angry with him for no comprehensible reason. It was Core, however, that was responsible for the most problems with the game, they could blame nobody but themselves.

@@DerTypausBielefeld All of what you said are blatant lies, except for the Jean Yves image being used without his authorization part which is 100% true, why? they swapped his character in Chronicles with Charles Kane so they would have obviously not made anything 3d model\ cgi for AOD, and yes, TRAOD did was rushed, the main reason? Eidos dumbly enough wanted it to launch at the same time as the movie, proof? there is an "interview" with AOD Lara and one of the questions is about what she thinks about angelina jolie portraying her, so, yes, TRAOD, DO was rushed by Eidos.

Dann HA Eidos delayed the game multiple times. It was Cores incompetence, along with lack of leadership, in-fighting between developers, devs who didn’t even know what they were supposed to be working on and no real direction

If I had a genie, my first wish is that TR:AOD was not rushed which would result in the trilogy promised by Eidos. This game would have been the magnum opus of the franchise. Also, they should have renamed it to 'Lara Croft: Angel of Darkness' since it solely focuses on Lara escaping imprisonment.

Controls are more fluid here than in the main game. It could have been such a great addition to the franchise. Though messy last TR in the style of old ones. There is one thing where this game is far superior to the first five and its the story.

That was their own fault. If 2 years weren't enough to create one decent game, they got what they deserved. They couldn't even organize their own development, so instead we got a recycled clone of everything we've seen already that is so short, you can finish it in less than one hour, it's chroniclas. And we got this mess.

this is my favorite Tomb Raider game out of all the rest of the other Tomb Raider games. I just like darker atmosphere and mood to Tomb Raider like this one. this one is especially more of a darker theme into this Tomb Raider game. AOD is an excellent Tomb Raider game. I've enjoyed playing it.

Hey! There was a patch on steam. They made new moves and a HD remake of what the game should have been! I think it’s in the description of Steve of warr’s Tomb Raider AOD video.

I always loved the look of this game because with the PS2 Lara now looked like the Renders of Lara from the first game, bought it, played it till the end, good game hamstrung by bloody awful controls.

I think we can all agree if Eidos didn't push core design for this game and let it happen naturally it would of been the best Lara Croft Game ever. But probably would have taken about 5- 6 years to come out since it was started on in 1999 and it tuck them 4 years for them to make it. But Core would of liked it since they were tired of making the same format game for 4 years straight

I've heard about the Kurtis spin-off games. There were so many potentials in this TRAOD game. I feel sad that they were cancelled at the finishing stage just like TR:Anniversary Edition. :(

The sad part of this game is that it had too much ambition behind it for its own good. The term "next generation" really did put CD under a lot of pressure to put out the best game they could, which led to too many ideas unable to be put in just a single game, as shown in this fantastic video. Such a shame :/

The chocolate bar you are seeing at 24:08 is not beta It was used as an asset to market 6+ years old game in around 2008 in Russia. Nestle sold “Шок” (means Shock in Russian) chocolate bars that year and came up with this rather strange promotion idea where they would take TRAOD, replace some of the game’s assets to advertise those choco bars and - some graffitis were changed to represent the bars and you could also find chocolate at random spots and use it as a med kit. It was a time when we still bought games on cds, so the box cover also had some chocolate bars (google angel of darkness шок) It’s still weird to me that the game was reissued by Eidos hands and they also made that DVD player (!!!) version of the game around the same time? P.S. thanks for a great video, o had a moment of a hard hitting nostalgia😔

I really wish they try to revisit what they were actually trying to do with the game. There's very interesting material in there, in what the franchise could've become and branched into. I know the legend trilogy would never have happened if this game didn't exist, but fuck man. Fuck.

I really don't get why they had to cut her dual pistols, its in the game accessible via cheats, it just that almost every promo pic of classic Lara wields dual pistols.. like why cut it when it was heavily advertised. Sad to see the cut levels, characters and animations.

I just realised that acid synth at 0:49 is the same one used in the Planet X music from TimeSplitters 1, another game published by Eidos.

Out of all the weapons that were supposed to have attachments like the lasersight and the silencer, the K2 Impactor is probably the most questionable. Why would anyone need a lasersight for a taser, even in a video game?

My favorite early version of AOD is the ECTS version. Because it looks like it's finished properly especially with Lara's hair physics the way it moves while you're moving her around. There should be a way how we can add that in the final game. Is there?

Where can I find a list of the possible titles that Core were thinking of calling/naming TR6 (around the 1:17 mark) before they went with Angel of Darkness? It's not listed in the description.

There is one minor thing I noticed that was removed last minute that you didn't mention. During the official Angel Of Darkness music video which provided tons of game cutscenes as the music plays, it showed the scene in the Bio-Research facility with Muller wearing what appears to be a mosquito head net. Yet, in the release of the game as we played, he is not wearing the head net. Here is the link to the official Angel Of Darkness music video and if you fast forward to time frame 0:35 you will see from there the head net he wears that I am talking about. What happened to the controls though? Clearly at this point Lara’s movement controls were fully functional, so I don’t understand why we ended up with broken controls? I know the game wasn’t finished but that aspect looked like it was complete

You don't get to spring until mid "Galleries Under Seige". Once you get a respirator in that level, Lara will say "My foot speed has increased (…)" When walking, press and hold the look button to sprint.
