Awesome! I was thrown to the wolves at 53 yeats old during a break up of a 26 year marriage.... went to my moms with the clothes on my back, my 3 shit tzus , a calico cat and my 14 yr old mustang. It took only 9 weeks to save up from my lil 9.00 an hour job i found and to rent my own place..... today, i OWN my own home (i have the deed) had rebuilt my credit pass an 800 credit score... paid off EVERYTHING .... then i decided to buy a truck (2013 f150 that looks and is like it is new.) I owe 16000. I could pay it off in full.... but with this crazy covid thing going on.... i thought it would be better to keep a nest egg. I spend very little.... buy used.... grow most of my own food and WORK MY ASS OFF. I have a lil farmstead.... hope to be off grid in the next 5 years... i am almost there. I am 60 now .... and I am SOOOO GRATEFUL in every lil thing... GOD has taken great care of me. I know this sounds HOKEY..... BUT, I DO COUNT MY BLESSINGS .... EVERYDAY! GOD BLESS N KEEP YOU!!! ✌🙂

I went through my fair share of hardships in my 20s. It took me losing people I was incredibly close to, burning out almost twice, failing classes after getting admitted to my dream university and my apartment burnt down to realize that crying for people you cared about was not a weakness, that you don't have to impress anyone to accomplish great things, that you can only help those who want to be helped in the first place, that failure was just a way to tell you that what you are doing is not working out somehow, and that you can always build up from ashes. Every single one of these things were devastating, but once I've decided to stop beating myself down and take matters into my own hand, I've realized I learned more about myself from these events than when I've had it easy. The people I lost inspired me and gave me lessons that I'll carry my whole life, I've learned that, despite being called lazy a huge chunk of my life, I was actually a hard worker who cared deeply when it mattered, that I was not scared to take on challenges that seemed unthinkable for many, that despite my love of maths, it was more a love of challenges and I just didn't care as much as I did for the field I'm in right now, plus that not because you can do something means that you should do it in the first place, and I got an even better apartment. I've also seen people get crippled by far less and play the victim card to justify themselves. Like you, I've learned to take responsibility for my actions and to move forward from hardships. I don't take responsibility for things that are completely out of my control, like the weather, but I never accepted "Well, there's nothing I can do about it." as a valid answer. It's not about waiting for the rain to stop, but rather to learn to dance in the rain! I love your channel for this. It's always a great reminder of what I'm trying to achieve and help me put things into perspective when I'm lost. :)

Tom - Thank you. 🙏🏼 Let me start by saying, I’m not one to comment on videos. But, I feel compelled. I’ve been watching Impact Theory for several months. Once I stumbled upon the first video, it became a daily routine to listen to an episode each morning, during my hour commute. The ability to have a “front row seat” to these conversations, with such amazing minds (you included), priceless. Thank you so much! 🙏🏼

This is so true, many times I questioned why was I going through all these hardships and pain. I realized I was going through heat and pressure to be shaped into a diamond to shine bright. Never give up my friends.
