I thought about it for a long time and read tests and then saw the V7 Stone Centenario on the Internet and was blown away. It actually looked just as good at the dealer as it did in the advert. And then I bought it. It's been two years and 10,000 kilometres. No chain, just sit on it and ride 400 kilometres until the tank is empty. Sometimes someone honks at me at the traffic lights and gives me the thumbs up.

@@tomgilson9180 Moto Guzzi in general fits me because they have really good fit & finish for the money, they're comfortable, they sound fantastic (once you put aftermarket exhaust on), easy maintenance (shaft drive and accessible valve covers), they have character, and they typically look great (V7, V9, V11, and Griso specifically).

I love my V7 Special, absolutely adore it! It ticks all the boxes for me (air-cooled push-rod V-twin, screw & lock nut valve adjustment, spokes & twin shocks). Moto Guzzi have managed to build a bike which is more than the sum of it's parts at a price which is more than competitive with bikes of lesser quality & character. Unlike some of the bikes it's often compared with, it's not a new bike in retro clothes, it is the genuine article with heritage that can be traced back to the late '70s. And that's where it's character comes from. Since I bought mine at the end of June (the beginning of winter here in sunny South Australia), I have literally ridden it every day. In fact, the only time I have sat on my Harley Road King is to admire the Guzzi & the only time I have sat in my car is to move it to make it easier to get the Guzzi out. It really is that good.

Hi Viennapalace, actually V7 special dates back to late sixties, I know because I own a V7 special made in 1970, a faithful horse for my father, and now that I'm not so young anymore I hope to pass to my son or daughter. It's how it shoulb be, according to my idea of the world. I wish you all the best., many kilometers and many more smiles.
@GrahamNicholson56
@GrahamNicholson56 8 ай бұрын
@@GoemonIshikawa13 The original V7 does indeed date back to the 60's but it used the 'big block' platform. The 'small block' platform has been used for all the V7 models since 2007. The first 'small block' bikes were the V35 and V50 designed by Lino Tonti and introduced in the late 70's as @viennapalace mentions. A good way to tell the two platforms apart is to look at the swingarm pivots; on your big block V7 the swingarm is mounted to the frame, on the current small blocks it is pivoted on the gearbox itself.

Comment on shaft drive… Redline Lubricants has a “shockproof” transmission / final drive oil this will make shifts smoother and remove clunkiness in shifting. They will recommend/know which one you need. Also, Redline engine oil is great too. Also, the oil carryover to the air box is largely related to air cleaner cleanness… remember this oil comes from PCV system and crankcase blow-by. Filling oil level to dip stick marked limits is ok… check with bike vertical on bike stands not while on the side stand. The crankcase is sealed from the oil pan and lower engine case with only drain holes communicating…. So almost impossible to get oil carry over into the air box with any oil level below absolute max mark on dip stick… the issue is pressure differential in crankcase caused by excessive blowby… this picks up oil mist which falls out in the air box. Dirty air filter increases the blow by due to lower pressure in the air box. Valve lash is very easy to do. Does not change much.

Owned a number of Moto-Guzzi’s in the ‘80’s, 650 SP, 650 Lairo, 850 T5, and a V1000. They were all fun, and not too bad to maintain at home. Dealerships here in the US were, and still are, few and far between, and parts availability is still a complete 💩show. If they were ever to sort out their dealerships I consider a new one 😉.

@@Victor-vf1fi he/she probably meant Euro 5, which typically requires a leaner fuel-air-mixture, meaning less fuel, more air. On my V7 850, I can't confirm it. @@tgs8459 there is a small symbol in the dash that indicates when the bike needs a service. Resetting that needs to be done with some software that the dealers have. Other than that, there's no magic to it. Bit of oil, bit of air filter, bit of valve clearance.

Great job with this video, I love your enthusiasm, your giggle at the beginning of the ride is just priceless. I just purchased one exactly one month ago Stone V7 on Yellow, and I only went on two rides up to now, I put 250 miles, I have added a windshield because on all my bikes I like to travel with, I absolutely love my Guzzi and when i purchased I have never ridden one, all the reviews that I have read and watched I was so impressed with the candid and spot on description of this bike. I have owned a few bikes and this one is absolutely the most grinning rides I have been on. My only concern before I bought the bike was the height and the weight of this hunk of steel, 480-490lbs; because i am short 5'5"" and 31" inseam I am notorious about dropping my bikes because of my height. Great job again and this is a 5 star video just for your enthusiasm. Thanks I bought my bike without test riding and the first ride was 3 weeks after i had the bike in my garage.

Me personally as a Guzzi owner (i have 3 at this moment) and experienced rider, i am more of a fan of the BIG Guzzi’s… i am sure the character of a big Guzzi will be even more your taste. Apart from the fact that the size/seating position has to suit someone/you. The big ones can give you the famous Guzzi itch (very addictive/incurable) , maybe a Griso will suit you well, affordable now, all the guzzi good things and easy to customise, adapt to your taste..

Awesome machine for its day but being italian it was very expensive , A$2200 compared to a Suzuki GT750 which was A$1100 or a Honda 750 which was about A$1350. Compared to a Ducati or a Laverda of the day the Guzzi was the more reliable of the three with the Duke coming in last.

I see the trademark clunk has been kept. My 1000 SP2 from 1985 has it …..

Il faut un peu de temps pour apprécier la machine, le moteur peut paraître brutal dans un premier temps.

Mr TAYM rides from there on their bixe frequently I believe. What about the electrix tho? Always used to be suspect on them.

Beautiful bike!!! Do you think it is a beginner friendly as a first bike!? I am 1,82cm high with 100kg weight looking passing from maxi scooters to proper motorcycles. Thanx and regards from far away Serbia 🇷🇸✌️

At 15:36, 853cc? The V7 has always been a little under 750cc. Shouldn’t it be called V9 Stone?

Hello from Croatia Please, what would you choose and why. Ducati scrambler next gen or this one. Thanks

Hey, I would put them in different categories. For me they are too different to compare. Ducati is more expensive and you notice it straight away. V7 is easier to maintain and costs less. Both have their own charm. V7 has a lot of unique character, more than a scramble. Should be a very personal choice.

Beauties like the V7 should have an analogue dash, not one that looks like a $20 Casio. Disappointing from MZ.

@georgelampropoulos1704 I don't know if you are aware of the MG V7 Special. It is dressed with two classic analogue gages, spoke wheels, and old school headlight. Check it out if you haven't already. It may be more to your liking.
