For those of you wondering why Doc Holiday says "I'm your huckleberry", the best explanation I've read so far is huckleberry is southern slang for "right person for the right job". So what Doc is telling Ringo is "I'm the right person to deal with you.".
@reggreenslade5769 Жыл бұрын
iam your huckle berry. iam your pall bearer
@jaydee3730 Жыл бұрын
@@reggreenslade5769 "Some folks think that Holliday may have said something else in real life. He might’ve said, “I’m your huckle bearer.” In the South, a huckle was a casket handle. A huckle bearer would be the person carrying a coffin, essentially a pallbearer. According to this theory, what Holliday should have said in the film is, “I’m your huckle bearer.” The theory goes that Val Kilmer accidentally said huckleberry instead, and the line stuck. There are a couple of problems with that explanation, though. First, no official copy of the script has ever been seen with the words “huckle bearer” used. Second, Val Kilmer maintains that the line written in the script was huckleberry, and Kilmer even titled his autobiography I’m Your Huckleberry. So what’s the truth about Holliday’s famous catch-phrase? Another Southern slang usage of huckleberry was “the right person for the job.” In both instances of Holliday using the phrase in the film, Johnny Ringo is hoping to spark violence. What Holliday is saying to Johnny Ringo is that if he’s looking for trouble, Holliday’s the guy to give it to him." He said huckleberry. And he meant it.

Tombstone is one of my favorite Westerns. Filled with a stunning cast, it’s at least one of my top 10, number one being Wild Bunch. You can hear the dialog which is rare in recent movies filled with too much noise, jump shots, loud music. Todays’ movies can’t compare to the classics. Thanks for sharing these with us.

It’s cool that Doc went to face Ringo, basically, he knew Wyatt wouldn’t win. And even Ringo tried to dodge it.

Johnny Ringo fills his pants when he hears 'I'm your huckleberry.' He knows he's fucked. I love this movie.

These scenes, let alone the whole movie was so well done. Val Kilmer absolutely nailed this role and so did the rest of the gang really. Was extremely excited when a company I buy from made a dedication to his role. Skeleton depiction of Doc holding his cigarette with "I'm Your Huckleberry" underneath. Bought two due to loving this movie and his role so much. BYE running mouth Johnny Ringo...lightly putting it. Very.

Doc was describing himself in his analytical description of ringo.

Definitely got the vibe he was making that analysis partially about himself.

Doc knew his time was coming… he had to save his homeboy before he passed 💯

Good friends are not easy to encounter and even more difficult to keep, especially in those days. Yet, Doc was the most loyal friend a guy could hope for. Doc was a loose cannon and a sickly one at that, but he stood tall and rode hard for Wyatt, come what may. Ya gotta respect that.

Val Kilmer had a Oscar worthy performance… But the academy is out of touch with mainstream America
@mc76 Жыл бұрын
If your latter statement were true, Tom Hanks and Jack Nicholson would have no Oscars. The entire cast of Tombstone suffered from its excellence. The academy couldn't nominate them all, so they didn't nominate any of them-all the more reason why the Oscars should add an ensemble award, a la the SAG Awards.

@@mc76 I disagree. Val Kilmer stole the show in this movie. Besides, that isn't how Oscar's work

Hollywood is out of touch with reality. The old filmakers made art. The new ones, propaganda.

Because of how wild Doc chose to live, he expected to die with his boots on.

'm not sure why Val's performance as Doc Holiday has experienced a resurgence in popularity, but damn it, it is one of the greatest historical fiction portrayals ever in cinema.

Doc's gunfighting stance, shelding himself like a boxer, all the while holding and casually smoking a cigarette!!!! Classic👍

That whole persona Doc projects smoking that fag and tapping his gun handle while stepping sideways and never leaving eye contact with Johnny Ringo was just spell binding!
