It was so frustrating seeing him shoot fire at nothing??? There were so many moments where tombstone was in perfect flaming position and they did nothing???

@@lewis7909 These weapons might have serious reliability issues after a few hits, and the flame thrower might have gone down. When you see it jet back up, it may have been in the moment of calm he was trying to get it back operating, perhaps spamming the button or re sparking it or something. I do agree, given a more durable ignition system, and a way to hold down the other bots a bit more reliably, enemy bots internals could just be roasted. Any insulated wires or batteries could just be destroyed and i think you would lose control even if the bot looked fine.

I love Tombstone. It’s like the Sean Connery Bond of the Battlebots world. Sure, it’s probably not exactly what should be made today, but it set the bar for Battlebots spinners and what we want watching a match.

Worst of all, tombstone won because minouatr got stuck in a gap in the battle arena, every time minotaur has lost against tombstone it has been because of the battle arena, it is the only robot that can beat ths robot in one a one.

The problem is toombstone does a lot of damage to itself woth each hit and Bots are just so much more durable now. They dont get obliderated with 1 or 2 big hits.

@@foulmouth359 but the main motor and moving system everything was intact, just the shell came off. That's why Ray himself tells Gigabyte team to stop moving to initiate a count down as team Gigabyte wanted to stop the match then and there. Ray just spared them.

It's a shame Tombstone isn't competing this season, they're one of only 5 bots to have competed in every season of the reboot (The others being Lockjaw, Captain Shrederator, Hypershock and Witch Doctor). Hopefully Triton can carry the flame for them!

it's not the build, it's the driver what makes this bot so dangerous, bot design is rather poor. wheels are too exposed, but then again if you know how to control your bot, then weaker designs work great

@@dustmitesp8766 i don't really follow any of that "behind the scenes" i just like to see the fights, but that's very true. Ray has higher intelligence for sure, you can tell from his driving, however Tombstone is not very reliable. if i'd make Tombstone V2, i'd make it stronger so it can withstand some punishment itself, i'd also put brakes on the spinner, so it wouldn't destroy itself after each hit. not sure how the chain system is designed, but perhaps some kind of a springed bulley system, like on bicycles, to prevent the chain from coming off or breaking when it takes a hit. then tombstone would be unstoppable!

The guy said the bar weighs 75lbs so I did some googling to check... Yes, 75lbs and it used to spin at 400mph but they slower it down to 250mph because it was too dangerous. That's 32kg spinning at 420kmph. Terrifying.

@@ZondaFRoadster I'd say Bite Force has the most effective design, while Tombstone is all about the weapon. Bite Force is ridiculously good at the ground game, and it has a punchy weapon, though it doesn't really hit any harder than the other verticals. Tombstone's horizontal giant bar can get countered by wedges but if it can get a good nick on a flat surface it does crazy amounts of damage

@@p_nilly Any hammer like weapon on a robot is pretty useless, you cant get enough power in them, you need too much power than batterys can provide or the robot doesnt have enough mass and jumps away. With rotating weapons you can gain momentum and hit way harder.

6 years on and I'm still mystified and a little cross about John's bizarre decision to not use Beta's weapon once against Tombstone. Not the first time he was overly cautious to his detriment either. Wonder what that was about.
