Congratulations! You are such a fantastic role model to young people today. It wouldn't be unfair to say you are an inspiration to not just young people, but everyone. I first came across your story when you shared your thoughts with the world. I have shown it to a few pupils, who have experienced bullying and who needed to see something positive; someone who believes in themselves and their sexuality. You have turned their lives around for the better, albeit from a distance. Your constant youtube films allows the young people to see a successful gay person enjoying life, which helps them realise their sexuality is not a barrier, but something to be celebrated, not ashamed of. Thank you so much for being out there in cyberspace. I don't know what would have happened to the pupils had they not had you to relate to. You deserve a gold medal for your dedication to diving and also every success in your future filled with happiness, laughter and love.

Im glad you enjoyed your stay here Tom! I was sad I couldn't meet you ( I kept bumping into the whole diving team at backstage, on the Tribune and at the bus stop, but never you) but we were always cheering for you, and by accident we sat in the same row as your family on your last diving competition. And it was really special. The energy was amazing, waiting for the score of your final dive, and the feeling after that....phenomenal. The proudness of your family shown through the Arena. And seeing them cry made me cry too (specially Lance. So thanks Lance for making me cry, haha). Hope you'll come back sometimes when I can meet you. All the best from Hungary

Hi Tom. I've been diving since I was ten (so five years). I'm working on my grade four and I have finally learnt how to do a 'dead man's drop'. I'm not sure if that's the official name but that's what my instructor sherley calls it. I think I met a couple of your fellow divers when they came to Riverside pool in Essex and my dad and I saw a few of you at the London championships. You really inspire me to keep diving. I´m gonna be honest here, I never watched a FINA world championship ever in my life, but earlier this year I discovered your channel and I also knew your husband bc of When We Rise. This was my first time watching and only managed to catch the 10m final and it was such an amazing experience, to see all these complicated stuff that you guys had to do. Chen Aisen didn't have a bad day at all, he was only 0.05 shy of his Olympic record with which he won gold in Rio, so virtually the same. Him and Tom were great, but in the end Tom was better, which makes his victory even sweeter ;) The whole final was very high quality though.
