Coming back to this after forgetting the name and searching it for hours just to find the name really was rewarding. This series was one of the first things that got me held onto the internet. Made me get on and want to start playing online games. 8 years later and I come back to it, remembering what I used to watch. This show led me to doing similar things. Me and a friend who knew each other for 6 years met up in Alabama. Afterwards, we met up with the rest of our FC that we joined in FFXIV. The friendships I had, connections and just pure love from everyone was amazing, and I felt that at the end of this series. Not only did everyone seem genuinely happy as a character, but as an actor. This was an amazing accomplishment. Thank you Chris and everyone who worked on this wonderful endeavor. You were a huge part of my life and I am truly grateful

It's one of the greatest series I have ever watched and it oozes charm from every corner of this beautiful world you've created. From Lavendera, to Mech City, to the Sanctuary, I have and always will be in love with T.O.M.E and all the characters in it. Also, I saw the date that the guys decided to meet up. Hey, Kirb. Permit me to say, in the vein of Nylocke here, that the Terrain Of Magical Expertise is one of the greatest creations I have ever laid eyes on. It tops many professional novels, tv shows, games, and anime, if you consider that a separate thing. The characters are fantastic, the plot is amazing, the animation is wonderful, and the ending was sublime. So, on behalf of me, and all of my friends... *Thank you, Chris Kirbopher Niosi.*

As much as I want this to continue on, even I can't see where this would go from here. The story's over, and if there's anything we've learned from Teen Titans and DBZ, it is to never extend out a series more than it's original goal. This was one of the best series that I have ever seen anywhere, and is one more reason I prefer to spend my time on the internet with my friends rather than being active outside. First complete re-watch, beginning to end. TOME has meant and continues to mean a whole lot to me. I can distinctly recall the periods of my life that I was in, when I discovered the first episode whilst browsing on Newgrounds (and proceeding to jump back in years later right before the end of Season 1), when Season 2 first aired and I fell in love with the theme song, when this episode aired and it truly felt like the grand ending everything had built towards, and then now, being able to appreciate it anew as a complete experience. Though I was well into my teens for most of its run, strangely it feels like I grew up with this series, even if just a bit! Utmost respect of course for all those involved and I'm sure I'll be back someday to reminisce once more.

I've now rewatched this series from start to finish, including shorts, and when I finally reached the last two episodes again, I busted out crying. I cried for Alpha and the despair he felt. I cried for Zetto and the pain of his double life. I cried for Kizuna, who just wanted to protect the person she loved. I cried for Nylocke, who just wanted to play the game that gave him the chance to show how extraordinary he really was. I cried for Flamegirl, who wanted to stop the hackers, and in the process, became a tool against the ones she cared for. I cried for GC, who wanted to protect the world her parents created, and the friends who made it special. I cried for Webmaster, who nearly lost the one he called daughter to one he called friend. Those were the tears of sadness I cried. But yet I found myself crying tears of joy. I cried for TOME, which was allowed to continue existing. I cried for Kajet, for he learned to trust. I cried for Michael and his friends, for they finally got to meet. I cried for Zetto, who was finally able to correct his mistakes. I cried for Rockoon, who finally learned what it meant to experience friendship. But most of all, I cried for my fellow fans, for the cast and crew, and everyone involved in this wonderful series. Christopher Niosi I thank you. I thank you for a wonderful series. I thank you for telling this tale of five friends, who grew together, won together, lost together, struggled together, and in the end, overcame the danger that they had been forced to face. To an amazing story teller, from one who appreciates all you've done; from one who can only wish that he could have had a chance to participate in this story, or help in some way, to repay every debt that I owe to you and this show... I, for one, can safely say that you, Kirb, have had a positive impact on my life in a couple of ways. And for that, I have to say thank you. I only *wish* that I had the confidence that you have to go against the nay-sayers and one's own negative feelings in order to create something that you love, and in effect, that others may also love.

Well done, Chris. Very well done. I don't think I can convey how truly impressed I am with your story telling abilities. In the span of just a short 15 episode series, you showed much of what other shows have only achieved after years of airing. The growth of the individual characters as well as the relationships they forged all based around a game they all cherished. And I will say, I was not expecting the Gamecrazed twist, excellent work. Thank you so much, Chris, for sharing this wonderful story with the world. I hope everyone is as touched by it as I am.

I think last year around the start of winter I got the urge to watch this whole thing through for the first time since middle school, and I just watched it through again. I should really hope it isn't only nostalgia speaking but this show is incredible. It inspired me to create my own characters and roleplay with friends, and I've always held onto the memories of watching these episodes for the first time and loving every minute. Thank you so much for the work you and the crew did on this show. You have no idea how excited I was recently to have found out that the game came out in September, very hyped to play that. P.S. for anyone who sees this and knows what I'm talking about, I could have SWORN that there was a scene at the end here of Alpha, Flamegirl, Kirbopher and Nylocke meeting in real life. It would be really funny to find out that I dreamed it, but if it does exist, perhaps someone could point me in that direction!

@@jagirl966 Some time before this year. Obviously. I'm guessing the scene was removed around the same time Chris decided to recast the game for TOME. This might have to do with Chris Niosi being canceled in some controversy I paid no attention to. Or it might be because the characters shown in real life at the end weren't social distancing in a show that was supposed to be set in 2021. Though the latter explanation doesn't explain why the IRL section of AvZ was cut, since Zetto and Alpha were supposed to be in their own rooms and very distant to each other.

I usually don't get into stories about MMORPGS (like .HACK or SAO), but your on take on the genre was absolutely brilliant. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say this series has become a MASSIVE inspiration for people everywhere. While it has a generally small fanbase in comparison to some of the larger IP's out there based on the similar concept of full immersion virtual reality this series hits notes that the others seem to miss. The signs of it being a non profit series are obvious and it's just as obvious that it's not a big production work, what IS obvious is that this series was created out of true passion by Chris and all those who worked along side him and those who supported him every step of the way. I have been following the story of Alpha for years starting on Newgrounds with the original story of TTA, which has been a series I can say I have watched multiple times as I was captivated by the story told back during those days, and now we sit here just over 6 whole years since this series ended, and nearly 14 years since TTA ended and I am glad to see how the fandom and even Chris has grown in all this time and it makes me proud to see it still living after all this time. And now another amazing story of Alpha and his friends are now able to unfold as of the time im writing this the official game, Terrain of Magical Expertise, came out 9 days ago. I was finally able to get it just the other day and I am beyond ecstatic to stream the whole thing. The journey from start to end, from TTA to Tome has been emotional. It's no exaggeration to say there were plenty of moments during the series that I got emotional, and more so for the final two episodes. Alpha's journey to protect his loved ones. Flamegirls journey to stop the hackers. Nylocke's love for the world that he lives in. Gamecrazed's mission to protect the world her parents created, and those that she came to love along the way. Kirbophers mission to destroy the virus to prevent what happened to him from happening to anybody else. And the many other characters that have made Tome into a home. All of them had a story, and their story was captivating to the point that you felt invested in their character and felt sorrow for them on almost a personal level when something bad happened to them. Tl;dr - Thank you, Christopher Niosi, for creating such a great series that will live on in the hearts of all those who watch for many more years to come.

binged this entire series again while working on art and god, it took me back. its funny, i thought id never start playing mmos, bc i had a very vague and wrong understanding of them (most stuff i knew was from wow memes tbh) but by now ive been playing the same mmo for more than 3 years and i made a lot of wonderful and great friends there. i still sometimes i have moments of "damn, this is basically tome, especially on hte social layer" and everytime i say it my online friends are like "the fuck is tome" it didnt age too well, in animation it was very much of its time, so while i dont recommend my very grown up non artists friends to watch it, it will forever hold a very special place in my heart. all that being said - am i tripping?? i VERY clearly remember one of the final, final scenes to be the players meeting irl. it was just a few shots of lifeaction, ppl pulling suitcases over a sidewalk, something like that. i remember it so clearly, has that been changed and removed for some reason?

above all else, I feel most sympathetic to kizuna and wish we had some sort of clarification about how it ended with her and zetto. A woman who saw her little crush get attacked by something she has no understanding of, and then he gets completly obsessed with removing it, both as revenge and more nobally to prevent others from getting hurt like him. She went with him anywhere, did anything she needed to do to help him fulfill his ambition, and carried it when his own spark started to fade. When he started to have second thoughts, she kept him at it, supported him all the way, and overtime he just grew distant. He started caring more about playing the game, and she saw that as him stop caring, giving up. She didn't want him to give up, so she persevered. Eventually she grew jealous of the time he spent at the game, and the game became a symbol for their distance. She gave him everything, and he took everything and gave so little back in return, and what she gave wasn't enough, was never enough. She worked tirelessly whilst he was off enjoying himself, and when she finally had the chance to end the game, to fulfill his ambition and to remove his obsession, to end the chapter that had, in her eyes, made him so distance and shallow, he shot her in the back. Who knows how much damage that did? How much that might have hurt physically, for all we know. He knew the consequences, and so he effectively chose to kill her. When I look at it like this, I cannot share in the enjoyment at a happy ending, as kirb showed such little remorse, sorrow. If I was his friend, I would turn around and walk away. That was just so cold, so... evil. I guess you wanted to make sure this season had a happy ending, but I personally cannot see it as such. Zetto still makes the same mistakes he always had, and probably will continue to make, and those who love him are put in harms way. Guess the next season will have kizuna as the villain? :P
@greenchaos19039 жыл бұрын

NooBrainer Only the virus as the ability to hurt people outside of the game (and maybe SOFDTI?). Also, I believe that the girl at the end was actually Kizuna, not Flamegirl. The reason for this was that the voice actor for Flamey is Caucasian ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3PEomqffcqheLc ) for sure, however I could not find any pictures of Kizuna's VA, but I think I remember someone mentioning her Asian ethnicity around the Gemini Tourny (But I may be imagining this) as well as Zetto saying something like "Its late your time" . I believe the blond person at the end who she hugs is actually Zetto, as his attitude seems to reflect Zetto's character, and I think that the IRL Kirb is actually playing Alpha at the end, as he seems to fit into the geeky loner role that they portrayed him as. But this does raise the question, "Where Is Flamegirl?"
@foxcloak9 жыл бұрын
NooBrainer yeah no this was the only issue I had with this whole thing.

Okay... I've been watching TOME since the beginning, and that goes back all the way to Tv Tome Adventures, TTA. I loved every episode of it. As for TOME...my heart. All of the feels. The characters, the hardships, all of it, it felt so much more real. Then with that ending...you're killing my heart, Kirb. First off I just wanted to say, DAMN YOU FOR PULLING THAT RED HERRING WITH EXEC ON ALL THE PEOPLE WHO WATCHED TTA Lmao. But I guess I shoulda saw it coming since he did say he made nylockes model. Though I was still super fucking surprised. Like wow. Anyway, my biggest regret was not pouring in money for this season, but if you're ever doing a kickstarter or anything for season 3, now that I have a job this time around, I'm definetly dropping max $111 for it. TTA is was and always will be a huge inspiration to me whenever I do animating stuff, and TOME will always be the best there ever was for me in terms of freelance animations. I just wished I watched from episode 1 and not the final episode xD _(He wants me to draw the fight scene. WHEW I'm gonna have fun with that xD)_ I haven't even watched the whole series, and I can agree with everyone else. This is beautiful, and has given us more than any anime like SAO or any other could give us. Part of me already wishes that there was a second season but that's the thing. 1.) I don't see where it could go on from here. It ended where it ended. Everything's been wrapped up. Not much could go on from there. Story-wise anyway. 2.) Shows like this....they don't need more. Endings like this...are perfect for it. Unless it actually planned somehow...leave it where it is. Leave it in all it's beauty, love, and glory. Don't taint it just because you want more. Just because your greedy and want it to keep going on. Yes, it's sad to see beautiful things go. But that's the thing All good things must come to an end. And when one story ends... _another can begin_

After watching the Entirety of TOME back to back, I feel like I understand the end scene of Archey and Rockoon a bit more. After all, Rockoon eliminated Archey in a pretty cheap way in the Gemini Tourny and never apologized. He was feeling horrible about the situation, and decided to help out since the kid was in trouble.. who's to say that he didn't apologize after and asked to be friends. Oh.. and of course he's probably going to re-type that message to Doub.
@Deven_Mack9 жыл бұрын
Phones_KP Hee heeee. I like to think Archy is so innocently naive, he's doesn't even know that "Rackoon" who tricked him and "Rockoon" who protected him are the same person. One of the main reasons Rockoon felt horrible was because watching Odboll's cruel, selfish attitude was reminding him of himself. Rocky now has fresh start with a new friend who needs his help, so he may avoid digging up any of his past regrets around Archy. As for the message to Doub? I have almost no doubt that he'll re-type it... and delete it. And re-type it... over and over and over. Because it just never feels good enough to deserve his old friend's forgiveness. Maybe someday...
