would love to see a team have a ton of affiliates who just send their youth recruits and see if the influx in young talent either boosts their senior squad or provides cash from sales of those youngsters

Alot of the Serie A clubs have affilitations with a ton of lower league teams that allow them to sign youth players, so if there is one that slips thru your scouting and another club tries to pick up the wonderkid for cheap, you get to match the offer. Other clubs have the same arrangements in their own country as well, I think Basel had ~80 affiliations with clubs thruout switzerland when I was playing them.

Yeah in Italy almost every single local club at regional level is affiliated with a professional team

There's not nearly enough FM staff experiments. Would be interesting to compare managers with 1 in every attribute vs managers with 20s. Also two full 20s managers in the same league, one with a huge sum of money, and the other with no money in the bank. Just a couple of ideas :)

I went through a period of watching everything fm on KZbin, during which I was still having my 6 month obsession after fm22 released last year. I stopped playing fm regularly half way thru the year as I always do. I don’t watch any other fm youtubers except maybe Zealand the odd time but whenever I see a TomFM video I’m all in without reading the title. Something very easy, fun and almost calming watching you do your thing. Congrats on becoming full time recently keep on going ✌️

0:50 Reminds me of my FM13 save where, while managing San Marino, in my first three seasons, I literally only had one full-time player and everyone else were loaned from other teams to cut down costs.

Great video, how about doing the same thing but put Lincoln in another league like Scotland/Wales/Spain/Italy. Be interesting to see how the clubs reputation changes if they start in a lower tier of another league with that kind of income

What about doing a similar experiment with a club from a lower-ranking Premiership (Wales or Northern Ireland, maybe) receiving all that from the (English) Premiership clubs? In some of those leagues there is no limit on loanees (at least on FM), and they'd already br a potential Conference League side to start with. See if they can establish themselves as a leading side in their league and maybe do well in the Conference or Europa League?

In my Chelmsford save Lincoln were an top half league one side for 6 seasons until winning League One in 2026/27 (same season I won the playoffs with Chelmsford) and are an established Championship team, having just finished 19th in the 2033/34 season, been keeping an eye on them as I live in Lincoln for Uni so they've almost become my 2nd team irl haha so interesting to see how they've done quite poorly despite all the help but in my save they've just become a Championship team by their own accord lmao

@TomFM Can u do experiment where u allow the worst team in lowest league to use best training facilities from clubs like Man UTD or Man City, i would like to see how much can that team or players in that team can grow and whats the result after 20-30 years or more ?

EFL clubs can loan more than 5 but can only name a maximum of 5 in a league squad so they rarely loan more than 5 for that reason

I know im late, but just wanted to say that it's not a limit of 5 loans in any efl league, it's a limit of 5 loan players allowed named in a match day squad. You could have 400 loan players In your squad, but can only use 5 any given league match.

I watched a video a while back and didn't realise how profitable affiliates can be for top teams, (it has always been big for smaller teams). In my Man Utd save it brought me in so much additional money!

@@Rizgn In the Utd save you mean? I was bringing in and additional 8m I think it was from merchandising due to having established fan bases in those countries. Shirt sales were millions of pounds per year as well.

I use this to try and help out local tiny clubs around me to see what happens. makes a huge difference giving them all the positive benefits

As Newcastle manager I always send my good wonderkids to Huddersfield when they are not ready for the first team. It's working ok rn and I like that as a Huddersfield fan.

The rule is you can load in 8 players but but can only field 5 including the bench

I did a save on fm21 I had Fulham as an affiliate team they got relegated from the premier league the season I got promoted to the premier league the link still stayed

Of course Man City didn't cancel the affiliation. their accountants wouldnt even notice a 1 Million pound line item in the audit.

Lincoln City, proving once again that spending money on FM on traditional means (no wonderkid scouting etc.) doesn't always work :P

Clubs aren't as mobile thorugh the leagues in FM as they should be. Club reptuations are a bit too static and the AI doesn't know how to build a squad, so you get the same handful of clubs yo-yoing between leagues while everyone else seems to just make up the numbers.

I think you should try share scouting knowledge or training facilities. You might get better results. FM seems to do better with Perfect type clubs vs having bucket load of money because AI NEVER SPENDS OR OVERSPENDS 🙄

It’s pronounced baseford, closest team to myself. I know it probably should be the way Tom pronounced it but it’s not I did expect a lot more from this, definitely disappointing they never even made the premier league. Also maybe don’t make yourself manager until they have had the money for five seasons?
