This man tried to kill his girlfriend (who was 15 when they got together) in 1978 by stabbing her over a dozen times when she tried to leave (causing her a punctured bladder, kidney, and liver and collapsed lungs) and had previously shot her in the groin with a crossbow and cracked her kneecap with a hammer and he only served THREE YEARS before he was allowed out again. He had a history of horrific behaviour and was still a free man grroming girls as young as 14 (a girl he "dated" when he was 37), it really isn't surprising he ended up graduating all the way to murder. This country's legal system is terrible and this is just one of many who got off way too easy the first multiple offenses. Those poor kids could have actually had a chance and my heart breaks for them :(
@janepurcell6747
@janepurcell6747 Жыл бұрын
Just to add that when Kim Hill left him (curiously she decided that a man who cracked her kneecap and attacked her with a crossbow wasn't a keeper) he then broke into her house and stabbed her TWENTY SEVEN times. How was she even alive after that??? When Kim's mother rushed to her daughter's aid, she too was stabbed multiple times, and ended up with a punctured liver and collapsed lung. When the paramedics arrived he told them not to bother as he'd 'done a job on her.' For attempted murder and GBH, of Kim and her mother, he was sentenced to seven years and was out in three years and two months.

every countrys justice system is like that. crimes against women dont matter unless its murder. attempted murder, rape, vile abuse - all will only get you a couple of years. even when you commit crimes like that over and over. its like they want men to murder - only then will they give a proper sentence.

The neighbours were the one spot of hope in this video for me: not only the two brothers who tried to save the children but the community response. The average cost for a funeral in the UK is roughly £4,000 (about $5,000): a horse drawn hearse and personalised coffin would be a lot more. It wasn't a well-off area and people probably didn't have much but they managed to fund a lavish funeral. Small local businesses donated their fees to charity rather than profit from the tragedy. While insincere, Mick wasn't wrong: a lot of people did fight to save the children; they were devastated by their death and furious when the truth came out. Almost everyone in the video, except Phil and Mairead themselves, seemed to genuinely care about the tragedy. It's infuriating that the tabloids used Phil to villainize people who were low income/on benefits when a lot of the people risking their lives to save his children and crowdfunding their funeral were probably in a similar economic situation. It's like the Shannon Matthews case: the (low income) community was absolutely tireless trying to help Shannon and support her family. Yet the tabloids used Karen Matthews and Mick Philpott to whip up hatred and derision against a whole class of people and conveniently ignored the bravery, generosity and compassion of their neighbours, who were much better examples/more representative of that class.

The whole ‘new identity’ element never fails to shock me in UK cases. I’d gladly change identities if my student loans went with it -but yes, please allow the WORST among us the luxury of a ‘fresh start.’ God forbid they get hung up by those pesky ‘records of killing people.’ (No system is perfect, but that is above and beyond in the WIERDEST way.) Are the costs of doing that public record? Guessing not. The amount of resources that must require that could be directed literally anywhere else.

Jack philpott would've been 20 sometime between now and September next year. You absolutely kill me😂😂😂 her brown smile.... Rubbing their one brain cell together. I am dead. I can't think of anyone else as talented as you at giving the most wickedly hilarious one liners. Can't stop laughing.

Just banish him to the colonies like yall used to do. We are so angry and vengeful over here. Drop him off in Philadelphia or Miami and loudly announce his record. He’s got 2 weeks to live 😂

Jeez that was dark. Poor kids they didn’t deserve that. Too bad they couldn’t get away before it was too late.

Damn. I'm from the U.S., so I had never heard of this family before. I started watching this thinking we were just gonna laugh about creepy and weird their lifestyle is. I was NOT expecting such a dark turn of events.

Agreed; I had no idea what was coming. I love Tom, but the tone was all over the place on this one and made for a hard watch with such dark content.

A true crime video was not what I was expecting to see from you today! This story has got to have gone down as one of the most tragic cases in British history, those poor innocent babies 💔

Tom always coming back with the most random ass content and all of us lapping it up like starving kittens. I’m into it. Edit: dear god I did not expect that turn. I thought this was just British Jerry Springer but these people are monsters.

I remember this story a suprising amount, probably cus I was delivering newspapers with all the headlines around the time it all went down. Most people that I knew thought the guy was dodgy to begin with. Somewhat livid that the both of them got any sort of parole for what they did. They took 6 lives away from this world. They should have rotted in jail
