This trumps even the 250 GTO. And that trumped pretty much anything else. Great video. It shows why these owners entrust their absolute top cars for you to sell. And quite apart from that, it’s an interesting story in its own right. Great job Tom

I remember Hamilton, Rolt taking part in the 1953 Le Mans. I was in my early teens. At that time car 18 was registered 774 RW. I think I am correct in saying during those years the cars were driven on the road from Coventry to Le Mans. Took part in the race, and were then driven home again. It was the Dunlop disc brakes that gave the car the advantage in the race. Thank you Tom for telling us the story of this car with great passion, really interesting.

The current cars are so dull. Zero interest in all those 1000 hp cars. This Jaguar and many post war cars are far more interesting and lot more beautiful
@kings38032 ай бұрын
I agree. Where on the road are you going to use 1000hp or anywhere near. And these cars are so big that you are always in the ditch so a small hot hatch with 350hp would leave it for dust. Don't get me wrong I love these super and hypercars for what they are and the technology that goes into them but not just the realistic use of them.

The XKC remains my favourite car by far. There's just something about it's raw beauty, that excites me. Like most of your viewers, I have no interest in modern super & hypercars. My fascination is with race cars from the 50's & 60's & this car is the pinnacle of it's era.

Don’t forget Briggs’s Cunningham raced the E type 2A car. The C-type had an issue whilst racing and part of the floor split above the exhaust, causing problems for the drivers getting carbon monoxide poisoning. So during the pit stop the advised the team of the issue and whilst they raced on , one or two mechanics found a French armoured car and “borrowed “ part of the vehicle. The part from the vehicle was riveted to the floor of the car protecting the drivers. They raced on and won the race, and had the piece of armoured plate engraved.

As a Jaguar guy, it saddens me that Jaguar has fallen so far. If they go 100% electric like they have said, that will be final death knell to Jaguar. What a gorgeous car!

Colin Chapman studied aeronautics, where monocoques proved their worth with the DC-3, so it was no great leap for the Lotus 25. Lancia had a monocoque in the '20s.

When I look at this magnificent machine I'm also tinged with sadness. The UK is withering away and this masterpiece is simply a relic from a different time. A better time when sanity prevailed. Soon we will observe London as an anachronism. St Pauls cathedral. Tower Bridge etc etc. These will be oddities from a past civilization that was once there. Much like Inca temples that somehow managed to survive the centuries after the people expired. I concede that my thoughts are very depressing but I fear I am correct. At least the UK's legacy was peerless.

The engineering, design and style of Jaguar from its early days was fantastic. The XK120, C Type, D Type, E Type and XJ Series 1 all beautiful and all ground breaking! Jaguar has sadly become a faint shadow of it's former self. Unfortunately, British Leyland did tremendous damage to the brand that has been a millstone around the company since. In the last 15years, the company has gone down hill again and now its gone all EV, I reckon it will cease to exist within five years.
