Interesting video. However, I think the question you need to be asking is if a person is only able to relate to a character, or find their stories enjoyable, if they are the same skin color, sexual orientation, gender. The problem that many critics of this wave of virtue signaling isn't diversity in of itself, it's *forced* diversity. They have to destroy the old to try to force readers to accept the new. It's a lazy way to make change. A good, well-written character will rise to the top and be able to stand beside the old. Why not have both and expand the industry and its readership that way?

Good video, but my question for these publishers is "Is it ok to change pre existing characters ie: race /sex for the sake of diversity?" and "Why not come up with new and interesting characters?" Too me its a lazy way to write. You piss off the lifers and show no real talent and disrespect for the properties you are writing about. Think of it as a token prize.
