Viewing from NZ 🇳🇿 …over here, our 7’s are made by Fraser. Virtually identical to a Caterham. Mine has the 2litre Honda S2000 engine / dry sump and is incredible. And he’s right: Everyone loves a 7… from school kids to granny’s.
@ianscott31804 жыл бұрын
Just to note that you don't have to spend £45k on a Caterham. You can buy a very good K series for the right side of £20k. They nearly all have very low mileage because the are used as second cars on sunny days. Even an old 1700 crossflow is fun, anything from 120 bhp will bring a smile to your face.

I helped my dad build his first one when I was 13, he used to commute from Lincoln to London all year round no problems. My favourite car and in my opinion the best drivers car still around.

As an owner of a 360S I can totally agree with your assessment, I’ve had other Caterhams and this feels absolutely spot on for the road.

I bought 2016 1.6 sigma this March here in Canada and and it the greatest fun I have ever had driving. Not a daily just got it for the fun factor.
@TheAutoDad4 жыл бұрын
Would you consider driving it when it’s colder? Or is it just for summer, for you?
@fastmitch1524 жыл бұрын
@@TheAutoDad Just the summer. It will be stored for the winter sometime in October till late April when the snow is gone. -20C to -30C is just too cold. Also way too much snow and ice.

Nice video. I’ve driven a 500r Superlight, Which was fun but insane on the road. The 360 S seems to be a genuine everday driver.

I build kitcars based on this platform myself. Current build is with a 13b-msp with 3 carburetors. ( stock intake wants going to fit ) goal is around 210WHP and 480 to 500kg depending on spec. Its going to be a screamer , 10500rpm revlimit because of the fully lightened internals.

That sounds like an absolute fun thing to be building!

Do you mind me asking how tall , weight , waist , inside leg ? It's just when some people say they're big.. like I'm 17st , 5'11" and wondering if I can squeeze into one, I live in rural Scotland where the nearest one is a 7 hr round trip so not easy to go and sit in one.

A bit late here, but would you know if the SV (wide chassi) and the lowered floor option has more performance grip and handling-wise? Or is it purely just for comfort? Me and a friend are in the thoughts of buying one of these badboys so it would be interesting to know. :)
@TheAutoDad3 жыл бұрын
It would definitely give a little bit more grip BUT I couldn't sat just how much. It's mainly for internal comfort for taller people really.

Ok so my 1970 seven/4 only had a 1600 Ford, but it was my everyday company car for use 24/7 and I did, EVERY DAY ! 30k miles, 40k miles I can't remember, but I went through two sets of tyres and a clutch in about a year and and half. Fantastic car to drive, Great brakes, great stearing, great looks, and if too many people get too close, put your foot down and your gone. AND you can put the front under the security barrier at any police/car park checkpoint. See at 0.36 kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKKknmloipZqhsk been there, done that !

The 620r will absolutely demolish this thing incredible car and if ya fussy about a roof I don’t think it comes with one but same chassis? Can’t be to hard to mix and match surly?
@TheAutoDad4 жыл бұрын
You can probably spec a 620R with roof and doors if you really want. They’re all the same chassis, just the 620R has a 310bhp supercharged engine up the front. 180bhp feels quick in them, 310 must be mind melting.
@philipschrantz84024 жыл бұрын
The 620R is brilliant but its an almost pure track car. Frighteningly fast, but not friendly on the street. The whole point of the video was to focus on a brilliant, unusual car that can actually be used every day...

Why the hell would such a light and simple car cost over $30,000???
@TheAutoDad4 жыл бұрын
It might be light and simple, but it gives you something nothing else can in driving experience. They're not mass manufactured, they're mostly hand made... guess you're paying for that too. :)
@spency7874 жыл бұрын
You mean $55,000 in the spec shown?
@philipschrantz84024 жыл бұрын
Probably because they’re essentially hand-built in very small numbers. None of the economies of scale common in ordinary production cars apply to the Caterham. Sort of the same thing as why a Rolex costs so much more than a Timex...
