I was researching videos with one of our clients comparing the cimarron toilet flush (360 revolution model), vs the American standard vormax, vs the toto drake with tornado flush and stumbled upon your video. Couple tips I would recommend to those watching this to learn how to install your toilet, when installing the toilet is (IMO) its best to set the toilet dry, then shim it with plastic shims so that it is level and so that the shims cant absorb water and deteriorate over time (cleaning the floor etc.., i usually then mark and cut the shims to size, reset them in their spots and then gently remove the toilet, add your wax and set the toilet onto the shims for best practice though as long as you aren't shimming too much, you'll probably be fine 👍 just need to take care to gently and slowly pull the toilet off the shims without moving them. By the way the Toto Drake/Tornado flush (2-PC) and the UltraMax II (1-PC) - also tornado flush toilets both showed to have the best flush in my research for a gravity toilet lol I watched until the end, and I see there are no leaks so a job well done indeed!

Use toilet shims-never wood in s bathroom or near water. Test level the bowl first so you know what issues you face. Attach the tank before setting the toilet do you can easily screw on the tank, level and tighten it. Change the shut off valve why the toilet is out. Use a quarter turn valve that’s all brass with no plastic guts-plumbing shop has them or Supply House online. I use a braided stainless steel hose to attach the water to the tank.

I just installed ours. One push on the lever releases 50% of the water - assume this is for light flush (#1). However, if you hold the lever down it drops the whole load of water - assume this is for #2.

Caulk only from front half way back, Never caulk the entire toilet, if it leaks you need to see water. Also toilet shims made of clear plastic are available and are tapered and approx. 1.25 inches in length.

Shouldn't the wax ring come with a black rubber circle? My old toilet has a black rubber circle in it. I think we need it. In your video the wax ring is also bigger for fitting on your toilet hole bc it is expected to have the black rubber circle in between.

New subscriber here. I am looking to replace my elongated toilet that is not flushing. I have tried cleaning the jets to no avail and now I am looking to replace it with a new one. What makes the Koehler good as apposed to a cheaper $100 kind at Home Depot or Lowes? I am curious and am in no way an expert. Plumbing is something I can do but don’t prefer to do as a homeowner. Haha, no offense. Love that there are plumbers to do the hard work for us!

Pain in the butt indeed ! That's when I stopped installing due to the "pain in the butt" tank, walked away, pet the dog, had lunch, and then watched this video. Misery loves company. I've encountered leaks with other toilets in the past, so wanted to do it right the first time. One comment to your tutorial ... my water supply shut-off valve is attached to a PVC pipe, so use a crescent wrench to screw or unscrew the supply line to the valve while holding the valve with a pair of pliers. The pliers will prevent the PVC pipe from breaking as you apply pressure with the crescent wrench to tighten or loosen the bolt. anyway thank you for sharing.

I don't think it's a good idea to caulk the toilet base. When it starts leaking in the future, you won't know until it's caused a lot of damage to your subfloor, framing, etc. if you really want to, you can caulk the front and the side that's visible, but always leave at least the back open
@TomLeeman3 ай бұрын
That is an excellent tip. I definitely concur.
@JUICE-wk2tzАй бұрын
in most areas caulking the toilet base is code for sanitary and stability purposes, best to leave a space in the back definitely (which is acceptable), but the caulk prevents water, urine, and other fluids from seeping under the toilet, where they could cause odors or support mold and bacteria growth and if done correctly it should look better aesthetically especially if you had to shim the toilet due to an unlevelled floor
