What a fascinating video! I enjoyed every second. It´s interesting to see exactly how you go about transforming these models. It seems very short-sighted to dismiss them out of hand when with a little thought and a tiny expenditure they can become so capable.

I don't care about the lights but some folks might. This process would toss the ICs that control the lights. I was looking for a schematic so I could hack into it but this way probably easier and then add my own board for my own purposes. For my purposes, I used a hot knife to cut the seats and dash out . A straight cut right behind the seats did the job so now I have a lot more room inside for a big ass battery and other gear. This vid really helped me out - I was on a wrong path.

The TRX4 Sport is $360 RTR plus battery and charger, $300 for the kit if you want to assemble and buy your own body. I've got another almost $200 in brass parts, but it's a good crawler. I've had a lot of fun with just my HPI FJ Cruiser with cheap wheels and tires and an upgraded steering servo (because the originals are absolute garbage). My friend has the classic Bronco and Defender (which are $500) with a few hundred in parts. This is fun if you want to do modding and don't want to spend a lot. I enjoy more competitive crawling with friends. I'll have to get some of my videos up from going out with them. I hope you're enjoying this! It's addictive! I have several cars! The crawlers are my favorite for going on hikes with my friends. It gets us out of the house.

It would have been good if you do a HOW TO about the basics of the electronics: correctly connecting the wiring into the ESC plugs - which coloured wire corresponds with others etc to prevent mistakes and burnt boards like what has happened to me recently....and advise on servos i.e. the WPL ESC kit you did a video on comes with a 7.4V Lipo battery pack, but servos are usually 4.8V to 6V output - explaining whether these are compatible or fry the board/servo would be great as no one on KZbin has ever bothered to do videos like that. On RC forums they talk utter gibberish about such things too so unless people like you who upload videos make a short how to basics advice video, novices like me are still going to make the same mistakes. You could be very helpful...and it would stop all MY questions too.
