What kind od dye do you use on the neck?

Hi I’m starting to varnish violins. How do I do the neck sealer only with clear finish.

I have a couple of questions regarding this reset. I’m preparing to do the same to a bass except that I’m removing a dovetail mortise/tenon and turning it into a square flat neck joint like your bass in the video. My question is; 1) how thick are the spruce shims that you glued in to tighten up the neck? 2) what was the final height of the bridge when measured off the sound board? Thanks and great videos!
