Such a beautiful process, thank you for using such detail, I’m beginning the process of refinishing my bass haven’t been able to find too many resources, how long does it need to dry between each coat?

thanks for the very informative and interesting video. May I ask, what type of UV lamps do you use? My reason for asking I have a large UV lightbox similar to yours, but the UVA tubes I use don't seem to be very effective - the tanning process is very slow unless I use sodium nitrite or Old Wood ground.

oxidizing agent... i think in the episode where you glue the plates to the ribs, i read potassium silicate on the side of a container that darkened the inside. according to an article in scientific american, despite speculation that strad used potassium to oxidize his pieces, spectometry does not show this compound present in any of the instruments tested. i guess one possible method to oxidize is fuming, but that requires tannins in the wood. maple isn't exactly tannic.

Can you confirm that it's potassium bicromate? Or it is mixed with some other chemicals? Can you tell what is it?

The oxidiser is Sodium Nitrite or something like that. Gives nice hue. But after it the stain is way too dark. And because lack of sealing on the top, the lighter rings soakes more stain. This gives an unpleasant negative effect. What a pity.
