I remember I was sitting @10 rows back when I witnessed these two.....truly thought about selling all my guitars and simply quitting music;)-----glad I didn't, as Richard gracefully gave me some lessons and I've gotten better...(at least in my own mind)..lol. Thanks for the recordings.

They are the best 2 musicians on guitars I have ever seen and heard. As others say, both play so relaxed and can jump in and talk back to each other with their guitars. Amazing.

Playing the guitar, or any instrument, is not a competition. These two guitar players are both incredible. Comparing them does a disservice to music and what they set out to do everyday. Tommy Emmanuel is a very humble man. I have met him a number of times. I'm sure if Richard was asked what he thought of Tommy, he would speak very highly of him.

Tommy's great advantage over all guitar players is that he is not restricted by any paradigm, no straight jacket...so every time he will play something differently. You can listen to him play entire concerts day after day and continue to be enthralled, surprised and invigorated and never bored by the sound and music. It isn't all just the same style, sound, interpretations etc. And I love it when goes for those dissonant improvs...a totally free musical mind, he dares to push the boundaries of sound. I think having 'one' technique or style as it were, restricts you too much. The musical mind versatility of Tommy is what makes him the greatest. Richard has a brilliant technique aka concert/orchestra standard virtuoso.. but I would get tired listening to an entire concert by him.
