Yes this man is talented. But there is no ONE best guitarist in the World! Musicians are as varied and unique as a Snowflake! Tommy Emmanuel' s brother Phil Emmanuel was very very talented as a Guitarist and taught his younger brother Tommy Emmanuel! Chet Atkins was also a very talented guitarist. And alot of songs Tommy Plays were played by Chet Atkins AND CHET INFLUENCED TOMMY AND WAS HIS IDOL GROWING UP. CHET WAS A HUMBLE MAN AND HELPED SO MANY GUITARISTS. Guitarists simply are expressing themselves and what is in their hearts! Please take some time to listen to THESE Guitarists : John Williams playing the classical guitar song: "ASTURIAS" then listen to these other guitarists Andre Segovia , Jimmy Hendricks, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Carlos Montoya, Glenn Campell, George Benson, Joe Pass, Kenney Burrell, Jose Feliciano, Wes Montgomery, FRANO ( he copies every lick of Tommy Emmanuel) John Williams playing Cavatina and playing other beautiful classical pieces. Then tell me if you can WHO is the best guitarist in the Whole World? The answer is there is none.

@@rickbrosseau1162 Well rick, the OP did not say he was the BEST, he said "one of the best", which is far different, and it is pretty hard to argue that TE is not "one of the best". Do you have any more important philosophical insights for us all? And yes, there are other talented guitarists in the world, thank you so much for that vital tidbit.

The tone of his instruments always, always, comes through so clean and crisp. It sounds like you are INSIDE the soundbox! He is such an excellent soundman. Also, I've never known a professional guitarist who tunes so well and so often. Some players think it unprofessional to tweak tuning during a performance. But this ignores the discomfort a listener with a good ear will feel. I have never heard a string out of tune. He tunes them back in BEFORE noticeable! Tommy is such a perfectionist at every level, and it shows.
@coryCuc3 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right. Listening to him talk about what he does prior to going on stage and the expectation he sets for himself is literal perfection. Every note he wants perfect and it shows.

Again, it’s seldom seen, such a joy, such a fun A blast of happy moods hits ya when listening AND seeing this guy perform. His Sound, his ability to play, his groove…all awesome and great but above all this it’s the joy and fun he spreads ans surely has while playing. I love this too, like many of you. It’s great to have him in the time that we live in. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

It was my pleasure to meet this extraordinary Australian and extraordinary guitarist o n several occasions in the 80s and 90s. This just proves he continues to get better with age and is a musician of the grandest order. Keep on inspiring us all Tommy. ... And thank you for each and every note.

Tommy has an utterly mind blowing ability to seguey from one song to another, and even one genre to another, without even a blink! And you don't even know he did it until he's already done it! He totally cracked me up on Classical Gas! He was on a totally different planet! And I admit that Windy and Warm made my eyes water a little. It's where *I* started, too. When Chet hit me with that, back in the 60s, it was THE challenge, and I had no choice but to figure out how he did it. It took me most of a year, but it opened up a whole new world of fingerpicking for me. Thanks for sharing this with those of us who couldn't be there!

woh, all that energy all that ease; I don't know... one minute a serenade the like of which you think could not come from a guitar, the next a volcanic fire storm in center of which is an atomic metronome. Like only a handful of others, Tommy Emmanuel redefines "Virtuosity". And his codas, like in this instance, are out of this world; somehow original yet inevitable, dazzling yet exact, sophisticated yet primal, such that the brain says " _Yes, that's exactly how it is supposed to be!_ "

I am a aussie guy who has known Tommy for many many years I still see Tommy in concert whenever he comes home . I rescently saw a vid on here from a recent show & his chops were still cutting it to the detractors YES there are some who like to TRY to run own genuine artists ! I don,t know why either perhaps ..jealousy ..envy I dn,t know BUT I just say Hey ..when you play guitar all your life for & with the greatest recording artist ( vocalist & others ) then venture out as an intrumentilst ...establish a loyal following of people who play & love the music of your chosen instrument ....you sell out concerts all over the EARTH & you keep both feet on the ground & your head n heart with other peoples concerns THEN YOU CAN CLICK THE THUMBS DOWN BUTTON TILL THEN GO AWAY & BE MISERABLE ELSEWHERE !

Tommy Emmanuel is up there with the jazz greats in terms of sheer technical proficiency, but I prefer his steel string attack over the more fluid effect of nylon strings. With the players I've seen, his percussiveness is second to none.

Awesome playing as always!! Just a friendly little tip to the cameraman; "When your zooming in like this and the object (Tommy) is moving around the stage. You should zoome out until you find him on your screen. and then zoom in again, rather than searching around with the same picture. Makes it more pleasant and professional to look at. But thankyou so much for posting Tommy's performance. Loved it. :)
