Tommy Emmanuel and Martin Taylor get a visit from luthier Ken Parker, who happens to be in Miami delivering a guitar. Great, enthusiastic playing ensues. See Ken's guitars at kenparkerarchto...

+jackdaniels64 I dont know the first, but the second is "Bernie's Tune", you can actually find a full video of them playing it on Tommy's channel

The first line is, "We're having a heatwave, a tropical heatwave / The temperature's rising, it isn't surprising: she certainly can Can Can." the song title is in there somewhere....
@nreRagnaros7 жыл бұрын
If you're still interested in knowing: The song they play together is called "Heat Wave" from their joint Jazz album called "The Colonel and the Governor". An exceptional peace of art, I listen to it at least once a weak, for years now.

+john dennis If you get a chance, play one. It's like nothing else out there. Hands down, the finest guitars I have ever played. Not trying to sell you - I am sure your old Martins are great - just saying, given the chance, don't pass up the opportunity.

Samurai gift and "Thank you Grasshopper"?? That's two comPLETELY different cultures. Samurai = Japanese and "Grasshopper" is a reference from the 1970s American television series, "Kung Fu" = Chinese. Come on Tommy...very politically incorrect and socially and culturally inept. By the way, probably my favourite guitar video I've seen on KZbin. It's not just soloing, it's improving melody and chord tones and scales and rhythms OVER A BUNCH of chord changes and following those changes without missing a note/beat.

Is the headstock a copy of the Parker Fly?
@uburoibob10 жыл бұрын
The headstock IS a Parker. Ken Parker. He invented the Parker Fly and had used this headstock design on archtops and basses before he came up with the Fly.

make your own.. the secret, other than years and years of experience, is that he braces it with as little wood as possible. Even the bridge is hollow. It means that the strings have as little mass to accelerate as possible - making the vibrations really amplify in the guitar body.
@RestfulSilent10 жыл бұрын
geetarwanabe The bridge is not hollow, it is solid and non adjustable. This actually transfers the sound into the top better. This is why the action is changed at the neck instead of the bridge.
@geetarwanabe10 жыл бұрын
askjhfjk The Bridge is hollow on this guitar. It reduces the weight that the strings need to excite when they vibrate.
@RestfulSilent10 жыл бұрын
It is not, but I'm not about to bicker with you.
@toonew248 жыл бұрын
...very impressive instrument, but considering that the guitar sounds like a Selmer rather than a traditional archtop, one could buy an original Selmer or many modern Selmer copies (Dupont, etc.) for the same price...
@rickbeta274910 жыл бұрын
The guitar has a really bad buzz on the low end. I do not think that I would pay 30k for it. Tommy could make a wash tub sound good though.
@playlistsefavoritos10 жыл бұрын
Manouche/Gipsy jazz guitars, traditionally have a buzz. The same thing happens in flamenco guitars with their really low laying strings, meanwhile classical guitars usually have no buzz whatsoever. It's part of the style. And there is a big difference between a slight buzz and a rattling sound. To add to that, rattling is fairly easy to remove. I mean, Martyn Taylor is loving it.
@uburoibob10 жыл бұрын
The guitar can be setup for the player in moments. Tommy and Martin were handed the guitars and they started playing and at least ONE of them has a pretty heavy handed approach. The cool part about Ken's design is that there is a key to raise and lower the neck on the back of the guitar. The tuning does not change. SO, the action can be adjusted without raising or lowering the bridge. It works on a turnbuckle inside the guitar.
@roccorodriguez66537 жыл бұрын
Rick Beta I heard the buzz too so I read the comments to see if anyone else commented on it. I have read the other replies and if someone wants a buzz that's fine and the guitar's neck can be adjusted easily so no big deal. I am a flamenco player and do not look for a buzz when playing.
@garrisonic7 жыл бұрын
Really?? Where are your "Flamenco" videos? I'd like to see them
