you dont have to be at this level to enjoy playing guitar. My advice, go get a good used guitar, and play it all day until your fingers are about to bleed. then take a break, then repeat for a while. In a year, you will be happier i guarantee it!

I have never heard of chord buddy, but i looked into and it looks like a plastic thing you put over your guitar to show you where to press on the strings. But I am completely self taught and never used anything like this. If you're going to invest in a learning device, my advice would be guitar pro. You can slow it down which is really helpful and play along with it. As far as learning chords, you can look up youtube videos or chord charts online.
