This guy is an amazing musician in so many ways. His spirit has found full expression through that guitar. He has full mastery and control over that instrument. He’s 50+ years into his career and keeps getting BETTER, has better technique than people half his age, and continues to make relevant and delightful music. This guy is the most inspiring musician I’ve ever seen!!

I've seen Tommy live twice. Admiration for him comes not only as 1 of the 3 greatest guitar players (CGP) of all time, it comes from Tommy's willingness to share his technics and that he works with those youngsters who've put in their time practicing. He's a leader, a teacher, and a great Dad, from what I've heard.

I always knew that the Korean people are very musical and I’m so happy to see them clapping exactly on the beat. This doesn’t always happen with audiences… but with this one there’s a palpable sense of respect and enjoyment for our wonderful Tommy Emmanuel. He’s obviously picked up on this too and he’s giving them even more of himself. ❤ 🇦🇺 😊
@eagle-eye298 ай бұрын
The clapping was distracting. I want to hear every note and nuance that Tommy puts into his music. The clapping also forces the musician into a false rhythm that then dictates the tempo. Rude or not rude? It still detracts.
@r.fairlie71868 ай бұрын
I know what you’re saying as in general I have a strong dislike of audience applause. It reminds me of a hailstorm and for some reason it lasts for approx. 13 seconds regardless of the wishes of the people being interviewed or onstage musicians. My appreciation was for the hand clapping being perfectly on time on beats 2 and 4. That’s usually the rhythm of RnB music. I find it annoying when people clap too slowly, which often happens in large arenas. It becomes meaningless. I felt that Tommy was happy with the in sync clapping during Windy and Warm but he knew that it wouldn’t be appropriate once he got into the passion and speed of Classical Gas. He sorted them out pretty quickly. One of the reasons why I like to watch Tommy at home on KZbin is that I don’t have to compete with the background noise of other people. His use of a microphone inside his Maton guitar is appreciated as I have tinnitus so this helps to improve my listening experience.

1. The audience keeping time is some of the best i've heard against syncopation and other adventures in the music. 2. The foreshadowing and protracted bridge between the two pieces is brilliant. 3:16 3. Tommy asking for more foldback and happily signalling when it's right while slamming Classical Gas is as smooth as butter. 4:41
