I saw a concert by TINA TURNER about forty years ago and since that evening I have never forgotten her: she possessed a black VOICE of rare beauty: powerful in any tonality: from very bluesy low timbres to ever higher notes that went up and up UP TO THE SKY. He was an "enchanting" stage ANIMAL: he possessed charm, beauty and physique "to spare". Observing TINA, it was understood very well that for HER singing was PURE FUN, therefore, thanks to this STRENGTH OF HER, she was able to "infect" all the audience present right from the first song. Just for the record, it should be NOTED that he has always had a lot of taste in selecting EXCELLENT MUSICIANS and GOOD CHOIR SINGERS to take with him on tour, especially in the 70s and 80s. TINA TURNER is one of the greatest ROCK singers in the HISTORY OF MUSIC and will ALWAYS remain ALIVE in our most beautiful musical memories! R.I.P. TINA: Simply The BEST...QEEN!!! 🎤👏👏💔❤

lmbo, she really would've been XD!!....nowhere near ugly enough though cuz she's nowhere near ugly at all, plus her handcuffs were probably still way too tight at the time even if she was proposed with that off. But your still so right, she would've been an excellent addition to The Wiz.
@dre66roc8 жыл бұрын
あ Layla Malinday あ big missed opportunity just imagine Stephanie Mills or Diana Ross as Dorothy, Michael Jackson as the Scarecrow, both the Lion and Tin Man were casted excellent, Aretha Franklin as Glinda or maybe Gladys Knight, Keep Richard Pryor as the Wiz or trade him with Bill Cosby or Harry Belafonte, and TINA TURNER as the Wicked Witch of the West. If im not mistaken The Wiz came out in 1978 by that time Tina and Ike were divorced

@@dre66roc - It did come out in 1978. I saw the original Broadway musical in '75 and I was terribly disappointed that Stephanie Mills wasn't re-cast as Dorothy, although a portion of the original cast was still included; the Lion (Ted Ross), the Wicked Witch ( Mabel King). I felt that Stephanie Mills had the more powerful and soulful voice, versus Diana Ross' more soft voice style. But the casting of Lena Horne as Glinda was perfect, I was moved to tears from her performance.

Everything was fine, I wasn't crazy, this bizarre film was real. I called up my friends and insisted they watch it, and they all insisted on watching it again to make sure they weren't losing their minds. Then I called in my mother to watch it, and her reaction could've gone viral.

This song and movie, put her back on the map after leaving Ike Turner. When she recorded this song, she was playing back in clubs and small theaters; but after "Tommy" she went back to being the superstar she deserved to be. She never forgot what The Who did to her, playing this song and Wont Get Fooled Again on her last tour and concert date in 2009. She also recorded another song by The Who: I can see for Miles, on her "Acid Queen" album.

amd64alan Very good question and is answered in some detail in Roger Daltrey’s 2018 Book Thank you Mr Kibblewhite. Basically Ken Russel 😁 couldn’t make his mind up with different takes with snakes and Butterfly’s which were left out when edited because of problems with filming the scenes. The book comes across as very honest and down to earth Roger Daltrey was in amongst the chaos and carnage that was going on in the band and well and is worth a read.
