You know, I think this is a great match for Musetti, because when he’s done being upset about losing and going over in his mind all the things he believes he could have done to turn it around, he can then say to himself (well, he should say this, this is how he should think with a healthy mindset), “you know what, I fought hard, I didn’t give it all up, I made great shots throughout the match, I broke his serve and took it to a tiebreaker in the second, and guess what, that tiebreaker was close the whole time and could have gone my way but it didn’t and that’s okay because I’m young, I’m having a productive season, and I’ll have more opportunities later”. I’m glad Paul won, I was rooting for him, but I’m glad the match turned out the way it did so that it wasn’t one-sided and demoralizing for the loser. It’s exciting for me as a fan to have that uncertainty and the end result is good for the spirit of the loser, at least it will be if Lorenzo chooses to see it that way and doesn’t get caught in an unhealthy and unnecessary downward spiral😉
@HeavyTopspin5 ай бұрын
Considering that Lorenzo spent the first part of the year losing in early rounds, playing Challengers, and running into Carlitos or Nole every time he seemed about to turn it around, the last 2 weeks should do wonders for his mental state.
@Tennisisreallyfun5 ай бұрын
@@HeavyTopspin I mean, he made the finals of those two challengers and made the round of 16 at a couple major tournaments, including Miami and Monte Carlo. Oh, and semis in Stuttgart too. Lorenzo mussatii is the worst hes got artistic play but never win(he's not federrer) ... he win a little this years but that's all its his limit, i think he will retire very soon... The crazy thing is, Tommy Paul has always had the potential to be this good. He's the most well rounded American player we've had in years. Solid serve, solid groundstrokes, amazing court coverage, good feel at the net. He's beaten Alcaraz twice, and for good reason. But now his mental game is developing too, and it really does feel like he has what it takes to compete and win big tournaments. Two masters 1000 semis and 3 finals this year alone is big. Maybe he's not a slam contender just yet, but with the right draw and a little bit of luck you never know...

Fantastic highlights! Really showed the best of not just both players, but the match in its entirety and what the score line reflects. I never thought Tommy Paul was Top 10 material, but damn is he looking really fantastic. He's extremely fast, recovers so well and quickly, can up the intensity in tight games, but also keeps his composure. He also did a great job making sure to hit it to Musetti's backhand which seems to be his reliable and less threatening shot. really hope he keeps up the momentum and this level, I'd love to see another American man in the Top 10 and keep it consistent. I've always liked him, but now I must say I'm fully rooting for him and a quite a fan after watching this. Musetti played amazingly as well.
