Beside "Elevator Rock" his "Rebel Rock" are the best tunes of Tommy Steele. Still groovy and full of punch.

His best is Drunken Guitar from 1960.

@consul1957 .A truly magnificent guitar,I wish I had one even more now.Tommy Steele and Terry Dene don't always get they accolades they deserve for being British Rock and Roll Pioneers a whole two years before Cliff Richard came along. If you haven't already check out the movie "The Golden Disc" there is a fair bit of Hofner action in it.

Contrary to the attempted impression given in the feature films, neither Tommy or Dene played lead electric guitar on their recordings or live shows. Altho the Steelmen line-up varied a little between dates and sessions, the track "Teenage Party" on Steele's great and genuinely "live" Stage Show LP from spring 57 includes Tommy name-checking the band (unlike on the version released on his later T.S. Story LP & 45). The lead guitarist was the relatively-unknown Roy Plummer, who throughout the 50s was voted Britain's best pop/jazz guitarist until he emigrated to Oz, consistently out-voting Bert Weedon, both played Hofners.

Cool jiving clip. I have 3 of Cliff Richard's mvovies, "Play It Cool" with Billy Fury, "Beat Girl" with Adam Faith, and even "Ring A Ding Rhythm" with Helen Shapiro...but I don't have a single Tommy Steele flick...yet. So, to be complete, what movie is this from "The Tommy Steele Story?"
