As of today 12/18/20 Tommy Tune is age 81 and dear Ann just passed away 12/12/20, age 71, she's now dancing with the angels. I had a wonderful chance meeting with Tommy one summer night as I was walking along upper Broadway at 94th street or so in Manhattan back around the early 2000's. No one else was around and there he was, we said hi, walked together a block or so and I asked if he was working on a new show coming up, told him I enjoyed his performances and shows he's choreographed; he was talkative, very nice and asked about myself, how cool was that! I hope he is doing well,

I saw Tommy and Lucie Arnaz together at that same S. Fran. theater in "My One and Only." in 1986...seems like yesterday.....it was his 1000th performance of that show and Tommy's mom and (the mayor) Feinstein and Carol Channing came onstage after the show to honor that show's milestone of perfs.

The ultimate Fosse woman and I mean that in a great way! She is such a fabulous dancer in her own right but I hope the "Fosse style" didn't die with her. She was a master at it. I miss her so much. Truly a legend and a grand lady!
@teijaflink2226 Жыл бұрын
Of course very rare to find dancers like Ann Reinking and specially who can fully use his style and create something new. But I'm sure the Fosse style will live on one way or another in musical theatre like Broadway at least. I have never danced in my life and I'mobsessed with Fosse, Ann and Gwen Verdon. You just can see and feel the passion someone has for dance. And anyway his style looks very timeless. At least I hope.

I’ve watched this video about a thousand times and she dances circles around him. He’s behind by half a beat in several parts, misses important “hits” with the hat, and his arms are just sloppy. All the love and respect for Tommy but she outperformed him here by miles. Her shoulders basically run this whole routine. 👑 ❤️

Alan Johnson w/ the arrangement by Mark Hummel.
@SmarterBetAuthor4 жыл бұрын
Alan Johnson may be on the credits, but 3/4 of the piece are moves lifted directly from Bob Fosse... so my guess is that Ann Reinking choreographed this particular number.
@markhummel89074 жыл бұрын
@@SmarterBetAuthor Alan Johnson and I were in the studio together with both Tune and Ann Reinking for this number. Alan created the piece and choreographed it. I wrote arrangements for Alan's choreography for many years and he catered to the artists for which we were creating the work. Check out CBS Celebrates Irving Berlin's 100th Birthday (for which Alan won an Emmy). Tune dances with 8 dancers performing "Puttin' On The Ritz" or Ann, Donna McKechnie, and Chita performing "Let Me Entertain You" on Broadway Salutes Jule Styne. In addition, most of Shirley MacLaine's dance numbers in her TV Specials and her nightclub acts. It is ALL Alan Johnson. markrhummel.com
