Exactly, Tommy was too trusting, he wasn't selfish. Sonny was the selfish one by selling out Tommy, trying to have him killed or arrested for all his years of loyalty. Tommy is the one who awards loyalty.

Tommy and Victor viewed Lance as a "kid". He could accept it from his big brother but not from Tommy, thats why he betrayed. He thought Tommy was his associate but Tommy viewed him as an employee

When you put it like that, Tommy did kinda *make* Lance sell him out... Never thought of that as a kid, it totally makes sense. They began this whole empire together, fair split, 50/50. Progressing through the game Tommy became more and more of a leader in his head, pushing Lance behind and making him look like Tommys regular soldier instead of a 2nd leader. I can now really understand why Lance set him up.

The only thing that I think that you negated to talk about was the reason why Tommy has such a big drive for his hatred for Sonny is because when he was inside, he had developed suspicions that Sunny had set him up which sunny confirms before Tommy kills him although yes, you’re right technically with that lifestyle comes prison time but you can’t send a man to kill one man and then send 10 other people to kill him and then when he kills those 10 other people lock him up for 15 years and then when he gets released send him to another city so people can’t link the crime back to you

One thing I disagree with, is in regards to your take on Tommy's 15 years in the can. Tommy's issue with that situation isn't the jail time itself. When he confronts Sonny in the final mission he says to Sonny "You sent me to kill one man, one man! They knew I was coming Sonn-" before he's interrupted by Sonny who tells him it sounds like Tommy blames him for it. The problem is that Vice City was the first gta with a backstory of a protagonist not shown in detail. I'm sure there was more to that backstory talked about in the writers room, that didn't make it in the game. Tl;Dr Sonny set Tommy up.

One problem with this video is that OP assumes sonny was a better, more of a good guy compared to tommy. Tommy doesnt follow sonnys orders because he had the suspicion sonny set him up in harwood this whole time. In the lore, uts confirmed that tommy was getting too powerful in the family and sonny needed to maintain control so he had to kill tommy and his rivals. So he sent tommy to kill sonnys rivals knowing tommy was going to be outnumbered. Tommy survives having suspicion that sonny set him up and ends up not following sonnys orders in the events of vice city. Thats why tommy behaves this wat

While I will admit that Tommy ignoring Sonny's calls after taking over wasn't a wise choice since it got the only man he had a close relationship with injured, it isn't exactly unreasonable. Keep in mind Tommy got sent to prison because Sonny set Tommy up in Harwood, hence the reason Tommy said Sonny took 15 years from him. See Sonny has more than implied to have wanted Tommy rid of his life a long time ago since Tommy's rep in LC would cause him to supplant Sonny's dominant position in the mob, and Sonny saw it as a threat. Once Sonny heard Tommy was released, he sends him to Vice City for the deal and was actually planning to kill Tommy once the latter gave Sonny his money and the Forellis take over Vice's empires. Tommy had every reason to turn on Sonny since the latter had betrayed the former a long time ago. And as for Lance, I swear, people get overly sympathetic with him. Tommy had to plan carefully because he knows that Diaz has many bodyguards he would be no match to, which is why it was vital to wait. Haven't you heard of the term Revenge Before Reason? Tommy's plan to kill Diaz didn't fail because Tommy was selfish. It failed because Lance was an impulsive moron who apparently never learned why immediate vengeance has its consequences. And at the scene in the bar, Lance did not even do his job properly and just decided to continue drinking on the job. Can you seriously tell me that Tommy didn't have a right to chastise Lance at that moment? No, Tommy's real weakness was his naivete. He was blinded by loyalty that he failed to see 15 years ago that he had been set up by his former boss and that he failed to see through Lance as the person he really was, believing that Lance would take the criticism thrown at him by the chin.

Claude's only weakness was letting Catalina get the best of him and leaving him for dead at that bank heist. Other than that, Claude is the perfect protagonist in the entire franchise not only because he's silent but cause he's more than capable of taking anybody on and dealing with anything that comes his way even if it means killing those he's worked for before.

I honestly think Tommy weakness was that he was a bit naive because him and sonny were close friends until sonny became corrupted by the power of been power hungry as he was the coming don of the forelli crime family . While still in liberity city sonny planned to reap him or betray him by sending a hit on him of course sonny didn't his made men since he would have noticed them so he hired hitmen who were 11 hitmen and that is why the Tommy was named the harwood butchet
