I've been watching Tommy for many years and he's unique.....I don't think there's a better combination of guitarist/entertainer anywhere. Sierra Hull came to the Musical Instruments Museum in Phoenix and did a concert. Really excellent. If you're not familiar with Sierra Hull, go see her.....Really talented!!!

I was never aware of who Sierra Hull was until I saw a clip Leland Sklar made of her band playing at a Lyle Lovett concert. I told my wife...get in here and see how good this little girl is playing and singing! After googling we discovered we had both missed her age by 20 years! This acoustic guitar mandolin music is the best in our times. We live in world filled with a normality of an almost eternal constant of mass shootings, violence, suffering, killing, war and terrorism. It is nice to see that maybe, even if only for a brief moment, the better angels of our human nature can aspire to a higher calling of beauty to reach a better level of human development. Then I open up my newspaper, turn on the network news and the brief moment of joy this music creates just melts into a constant somber feeling of melancholic dread for the future of humanity. Then I read my college history books and things today seem pretty good in comparison. I hope there is a whole album of Sierra Hull and Tommy Emmanuel collaborating together hopefully for years to come.

Among Tommy's many interesting collaborations, this is a favorite of mine for its acoustic character. The classic mandolin & guitar pairing makes Tommy's composition sound both traditional and contemporary. The guitar sings and flows-- and Sierra's interwoven tone, touch and timing are wonderful.
