You are confused because you are supposed to be at this point.... don’t worry it’ll all become clear soon... I won’t spoil it for you..... very deep album.... my second favorite concept album of all time... number one being Operation:Mindcrime by Queensryche

Yes all will be explained soon. Now is a confusing but beautiful time. Thank you for taking the time to do this album and to give us your thoughts.

"So many different instruments" It's actually just Jordan Rudess, the keyboard wizard lol In my opinion these 2 and Home which is the next track are the best of the album musically. But the whole thing is a masterpiece.

Btw, the first song, gives some insight ... i.e. the "sleeper" 😁 meaning "Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper". This album is "Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory".

I haven't listened to this album in a minute, but every time I do I'm reminded of how much it impresses me as a concept album. You keep picking the right moments to split your videos too haha, this time it's again the next song that will provide the next key part of the story. You should consider doing the second half of their Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence album as well! It's also a concept project, not in a storytelling way like this one, but still so well done. It has a lot of instrumental intricacies that really line up in context of the lyrics and themes.

I only have Omar in the Discord for his help with picking the right place to stop the videos! Such a good album so far!

The next song on the album is so killer. As much as I love the first half of this album, Home is where things take off for me. Looking forward to it!

It’s simply a well done and complex reincarnation and past lives story. Great!

I bought this on CD when it was released in 1999 and sat down that night with headphones and the lyrics in the booklet. Listening along with you (even thought I'm a few months late) feels like hearing the album again for the first time. Thank you for that experience.

i’m late watching this video, so pretend it’s last week: stop doubting yourself, you are pretty much dead on with the story so far, definitely well ahead of where i was on my first listen, 20 years ago. well done!

Another thought. Its a concept album, melodie will be all over the place.

Really enjoying this reaction series, one of favorite albums. If ur enjoying this, next u gotta do Queensryche's "Operation Mindcrime", great concept album story and incredible musically as well!
@omargonzalez41694 жыл бұрын
It's confusing because they added more characters to the story, but now you know how she died and you'll get more answers soon. You're right about the music, Through Her Eyes share the same piano melody with Through My Words. And it's good they put a ballad after Fatal Tragedy and Beyond This Life, I think they made it that way to have a "break" during live shows because, after all, they had to play the entire album as it is.

These are great! Can't wait for you to look back on the album like "wow!". Also, another great concept from DT album/song is SDoIT disc 2 which is great as well.

You're getting VERY HOT now with your conjectures...LOL! It's killing me not to just blab it out here, but I'm enjoying watching you piece it together for yourself. I WILL add that we can logically deduce that Nicholas is undergoing regression therapy for a reason, so your confusion is meant to mirror his. The story will begin to come into focus in the next few songs. While the song "Home" is my favorite from this album, "Through Her Eyes" always reduces me to tears...including just now. Truly this is an incredible album in every sense of the word. God bless!
@ThomasJ_Music4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gregory! I do feel like I’m piecing it together slowly. Since putting the video up last night I’m starting to this Nicholas is the killer more and more. He refers to her as friend, which suggests they are separate people. The two entities in different minds could just be him stating the killers love he had for Victoria. If I’m still wrong then this album is something else and I love it even more than I do now

Most non DT fans jump into this album without fully appreciating the story behind it. Watching this series has been very enjoyable. You may have already seen it, but when you get to finally free I'll link the video that fully that perfectly explains the story. Not that you need much help in that regard. I look forward to you getting to the end.... finally free is one of my favourite all time DT songs ....along with A Change of Seasons.

I love all your questions. This album certainly does give you a lot to think about. Especially if you take it in little chunks like this. Really look forward to seeing you react to the second half. Truly an amazing album and the 2nd half is even better than the first!

Absolutely loving watching your journey through this album. I was just as confused as you were my first time listening I could not figure out who was who and what was going on, but it will come together. Just a masterful album and it is my favorite concept album with Operation Mindcrime 2nd and Iron Maiden 7th son of a seventh son close behind.

I definitely noticed, it was lovely, and the words about the wife and son hit home. But you’re right to an extent, I didn’t show it because I was trying to see what the words were revealing about the story. I did say though that I felt like I was in heaven at the start, and I remember acknowledging the lead guitar with an ‘ooh’ or an ‘ahh’ 😂

I'd dare to say that the "learning all about my life" part is both a wordplay meaning that Nicholas is learning to appreciate his own life from Victoria's life experiences; and also because of what you said, it's his own past life as Victoria, by looking at life through her eyes, hence the "Regression" that opens the album.
