Rundown of the songs so far Through My Words - this is a song although short, confirms that indeed, Nicholas and Victoria are connected as one is a past life of the other. (We're sharing one eternity, living in two minds) Fatal Tragedy - Nicholas, bothered by what happened to Victoria, has vowed to solve the mystery of the tragedy that happened to his past life. Beyond This Life - The first part is the newspaper article account of what happened at that time (Headline: Murder, Young girl killed: desperate shooting at Echoes Hill). Now after finding out the mystery, Nicholas is searching for clues about what really happened, however, the facts do not line up.

This album is why Portnoy is my favorite drummer. But when I actually met the band, he honestly seemed the most interested in meeting the fans, even though all of them were just going through the motions, he genuinely WANTED to talk to and meet the people. ALTHOUGH: After the encore John Myung (the bass player)was the only one who went and clapped hands with everyone before leaving the stage. Being "the silent one" I thought it was amusing.

The live version of Finally Free from Metropolis 2000 live in New York is beyond epic!!!!! Mike Portnoy goes off on the outro.

You reacted to the live versions of both Fatal Tragedy and Beyond This Life about a month ago. The version of Beyond This Life you reacted to, from the Live at Budokan show, is the one that had that crazy improv section in the middle, where John Petrucci first melted your face and then Jordan Rudess and Mike Portnoy did a little copycat jam. During this song they flashed old-school newspaper headlines on the screen and I remember you saying that the ambience was like something out of Sweeney Todd. Now that you listen to the song in its proper context (in the 1920s), you can understand why! BTW, Fatal Tragedy is also my favorite Dream Theater song, even more than epic songs like Octavarium, A Change of Seasons, The Count of Tuscany, Illumination Theory. It's so tight, and Petrucci's solo in this song is orgasmic. My second favorite is also on this album, and just around the corner in your present journey: Home.

I always thought this reminded me of paranoid android (the acoustic minor parts/ transitions) , I want to say MP also said that on the live scenes from New York commentary
