I like what I saw of the first episode. It's not a "he's clearly not into you, why are we sitting through this?!" situation, he actually does have an interest in Tomo but he doesn't know exactly how to process it as they've been great friends forever and he's nervous about considering those feelings.

I watched the 2 first episodes, and I dont know why but I feel like the exact opposite. For me the guy is like: "My best bro is a girl and I get nervous when she acts too girly-like, cause I dont wanna be in a romantic relationship with her. I just want a bro." I also dont understand why the characters act like he is super dense, when he knows pretty clearly whats happening. She is miles more dense than him.

Something about this song, and actually the whole series in general, gives me the vibes from old romcoms from the 2000's. and that is such a good/rare thing these days. Tomo-chan really reminds me of one of my favorite romcoms of all time, Lovely Complex. The dynamic of the mc's is just pure comedy gold but you can tell the romance is still going somewhere bit by bit... hopefully?

Of possible interest only to me: if you watch the opening "fight" sequence in slow motion, you'll see that Jun never once punches or kicks back or even attempts to. Not once. The worst he does is grab Tomo by the collar, even though Tomo is punching/striking/kicking him as hard as she can. The anime is signaling from literally its opening seconds that Jun DOES see Tomo as a girl.

I just finished the series a few days ago and I'm happy and sad. I'm happy because I got to experience this wonderful story about love and friendship. I'm sad because I still want to hang out with this group of characters. I feel like there are still more fun and interesting stories to tell with these loveable characters. I want to see how they handle life outside of high school as adults and if Misuzu found someone worthy of her love. I can just see it now "Misuzu-Chan Falls In Love" a limited new series in the Tomo-Chan is a girl universe coming this Winter 2026. Or I'll take a pre-sequel series about Tomo's parents and Misuzu's mom in high school. All the parents are delightful even though they didn't have a lot of screen time. I'm gonna miss this show. 😥
