Tomo's Moveset (Azumanga Daioh) - Smash Bros Lawl Dreams

Azumanga Daioh is one of my favorite anime series of all time and Tomo is my favorite character from that. To see that she finally had a moveset that made justice to her unhinged nature in the series really made me happy! Even if that intro made me feel a bit worried that it was going to be a fakeout (after finding out that it was not, I found it to be hilarious. In a way it's fitting for her because it has the energy of a student who forgot to turn in their paper in time lol). As for the moveset itself, yeah, it's really really good. Tomo being so fast and crazy really suits her personality and I love how unique the different moves feel from one another. Like, Neutral B and Side B can both be used to move around the stage, but they have different properties and uses that really make them distinct (and I also love how the Side B was based on that running gag of her getting in front of the camera at the last second, that was really creative. Down B was also handled in a super unique way, and the combo that you showed with it was one of my favorite combos ever shown in a Lawl period. Up B was very nice as well, even if that's mostly because I watched Azumanga Daioh before becoming a Lupin fan, and realizing that there was a reference this whole time made me very happy, though not as much as seeing the three AD characters in the same place with the Taunts section. Gosh, seeing a Lawl handle so many characters from the same series so respectfully is always so cool. Gave me the same feelings as seeing the Eddsworld boys together or the Eds all having awesome movesets in the same Lawl. The only criticism that I have is a nitpick which is that I do wish that Tomo wore her cat disguise during Neutral B because of the name and one of the inspiration clips, but maybe that'll be an alt costume and I'm fine with that too. Oh, and speaking of costumes, I love how you took time to singlehandedly keep Tomo in her school uniform for the whole set. The fact that the inspiration clips would show other outfits with the animations that are clearly in the set really impressed me!

Oh no, the moveset's here already! I am _so_ totally late, *holy freaking crap!!!* After seeing all the dedication, high effort sprites and love towards the all sorts of gags regardless big or small in Osaka's revamp and Yukari's set, Tomo quickly became my most anticipated newcomers out of the bunch -second to only Goromi- And it's definitely safe to say that you _absolutely delivered!_ ✋😎🤚 Really, Tomo as a character pick not only fit Dreams and even Lawl as a whole like a thumb, but also helped contrasting with other _Azumanga_ reps by sticking to her chaotic nature and ran with it, all while bringing their dynamic around altogether to show what's so special about the series like with the _Eddsworld_ boys. It's so good that I can't even pick out a favorite move out of the set that I'm just gonna say all of them! On an unrelated note, I probably said this a million times before somewhere else, but Dreams is one of my Lawls in terms of visual effects. From the little particles for attack impacts and character movements, all the stretching and enlarging that both work as smear frames but also help selling the cartoony nature of Lawl, and even the all new font that admittedly took me a moment to get used to. I love to see all the little improvement and changes that further help with the Lawl's identity and sets it apart from others, *peak stuff.* Alas, Kagura would've been cool to see, but as it seems that Satania already filled the spot for the Knuckleheads of Dreams. -Presumably gave herself up to authorities after the incident and now serving a life sentence.- /ref Jokes aside, as usual, good luck on your next project!

How satisfying it is to see a Lawl with multiple series reps all get their movesets, each being great in their own way, with Tomo being no exception! I swear it felt like Mr. Sys came out yesterday (though that may just be me rewatching his moveset so many times), but this moveset was absolutely amazing! Now to be honest, I haven’t really seen any actual episodes of Azumanga Daioh, but Tomo and her immense energy whenever I did see her definitely made me curious as to how you’d generalize that and her moments into an active playstyle, and you definitely delivered! I really like Tomo’s animations and cropping, both in how well done they are and how smooth they look overall, and giving her so many movement options fits both her character and gameplan so well, and I like how each stands out in their own ways, like Neutral Special being a diverse approach option that also has some anti-air properties, Side Special being a good zone-breaking combo starter when used unexpectedly, Up Special having a very cool edgeguard preventing option that’s even more effective when charged on the ground, (said charge additionally being it’s own movement option) and Down Special being seemingly insignificant up until opponents (somehow) stop paying attention to Tomo, and the combo showcased to demonstrate how the juice cans can help her in neutral was really epic. I think the Final Smash was one of the better cutscene Final Smashes I’ve seen in a gold minute, and Mr. Sys’ attacks were really fun NES references that fit their respective roles. And the taunts and victories with all the other characters in the Azumanga Daioh trio here was a great closer to this set. Yet another peak moveset from Lawl Dreams, and I’d say the anticipation was worth the wait! Can’t wait to see how you tackle Satania after she’s been in Lawl Dreams for so long. (And three things I wanna shout out real quick are: the revamped animations for Brickbattle Guest, as well as The fact you can say you fully animate two characters in your Lawl with CGI, which is a HUGE flex imo. Those and I also love Charlie’s Down Smash. Really fun and clever and that sort of stuff.)

totomo totomo Ye, this was an excellent moveset too! Unfortunately I forgot everything I was gonna say about this, so I'll just go over everything that stuck out Firstly, outside of the moves themselves, the way Tomo moves is just a treat to watch. The exaggerated proportions, the overly jumpy and energetic attacks, the way her legs literally turn into hand drawh smears, it does a great job separating her from the other Azus and showcasing her as the literal Mickey Mouse character that her dumbass is Outside of that, the move concepts are also very very creative, it's definitely a notable trait the rest of your Azu's share, turning her most recognizable moments and traits into actual attacks and mechanics. All of them really fit Tomo too, just schmoving almost constantly while and really really unpredictable with what her next move could be, and if you blink once she'd on the other side of the stage Regarding everything not Tomo (mostly) were as beautifully made as usual, the sprites were very clean and moved very smoothly (and seeing Tomo cry about it:tm: in her lose pose made my day), but I definitely have to commemorate your stages You do a wonderful job with their layout and geometry that it's hard to ignore the skill going into each and every one, I fully admire it! In conclusion, after watching this I had a nightmare that i was in a death game or smth like that and i'm fully blaming tomo

tomo was PEAK as i said on discord, this is the first azumoveset ive watched since getting into the show; while watching the show i was trying to imagine what tomo's set could have, but i was drawing a blank outside of her playstyle, and yet when watching this set with every new move i just went "oh that makes way too much sense!" also i think i may have just found my absolute lawl main??? give me a character with ridiculous movement and item combos and you've just made the character of my dreams :3 anyway, dreams continues to prove why it's absolutely the best animated lawl out there, the normals we got to see for tomo and mr. sys were CLEAN; i really appreciate how some of her limbs are much bigger during some move like in up tilt or jab 3, using animation techniques seen in smash is always a boost and they look fantastic! not to mention the use of motion smears on her dash attack, or just how statisfying so many of these moves are to land! mr. sys' side tilt would be my favourite move of his if i got to play him fsdgfsgsgsfd. oh and tamatoa's side tilt i think is new too??? it's insane how well you manage to sprite such a tricky character like him! anyway as for the set itself, it's really interesting how tomo has three seperate movement options that all serve a different purpose, yet all fit her playstyle to a tee; tomo-nado may be an original concept but it works SO well for her character, and i love the way she just leans into the directions she's moving, it's so goofy, and yet works so well with the lupin reference dfshfdgfsgfdgsfd. also i LOVE moves with properties like side special's reverse function, being able to avoid projectiles by just. going around the other way is so funny. and YES i love seeing robust combos in lawl and that down special combo is absolutely no exception, love seeing the use of jab cancelling in a combo, dont believe that's been done in a lawl before! dreams continues to prove why it might just be my absolute favourite lawl, never stop cooking!! (oh and also tomo touhou theme woaaa???????)

Wow Star everytime you upload I get excited to see what new and crazy ideas you come up with and Tomo is just excellent. Tomo's character really fits the hit-n-run gameplay that you were going for and she's incredible. I love being able to rush in and deal damage and evade swiftly. She's certainly one of my favorite movesets you have made thus far, amazing job Star. Also super super hyped for Majima I can't wait to see his moveset.

Its feels like you only made Mr Sys yesterday as his set is still fresh in my mind. But at last, we have the final member of the Azu-trio that many have waited since her announcement, and her set is glorious. Watched this on my break and again tonight alongside her first set of Yesteryear, and its clear that you wanted to make sure anyone who's never of Azumanga Daioh could easily define Tomo as a character: An energetic, athletic, unpredictable and sometimes obnoxious girl who makes good use for pulling off combos and would be a good main to master. The fact that all her special moves.give her various options makes her stand out, with even the down special having unique properties than just being a slip trap. Mr. Sys's NES based attacks and the victory options between all 3 Azu- girls were all fun seeing animated. Definitely a high tier moveset, and its amazing seeing how Dream has comes since Tamatoa, with only 8 Yet To Be Planned characters left on the roster. While I haven't seen Gabriel Dropout fully, both the concept and Satania herself have me sold, so I'm really looking forward to her and the other characters soon, espically The Students.
