I love that it’s the speed that it is. One can hear exactly what is being sung.

Perhaps a tad faster. But yes it is often done too fast. The words are so very important to get.

As I am learning this piece I appreciate the slower and more sane tempo.

This should be used at Easter Vigil. I do not know why no one has thought to do this... It is the moment when the lights go full on! Our Savior has redeemed us as His true love and He as Ours. Amen!

I would listen to the last verse a tenth the speed, ten times in a row and still love it.

Tomorrow shall be my strolling day - not much dancing here!!! A pity as they sing beautiful!

Agreed. Way to slow.

Terrific piece of music and beautifully sung. Our choir is presenting this soon with side drum

Change speed to 1.25 if you think it's too slow...... I think as-is is magnificent.

True! From the score: "Fresh and lively (minim = 180)"

Perhaps a microphone too close to one of the boy trebles which "unbalances" the ensemble sound?
@bradhayashi1106Ай бұрын
Bump the Playback Speed to 1.25x and that's closer to what the tempo should be. (Gardner specified quarter = 180)

Supremely Wonderful! Most all other versions are performed at the written tempo, or faster - so nice to hear a different tempo. Did not like at first - but now this is probably my favorite.

Amused by the fact that the organist, with no page turner (we've all been there in the local church!), sat through an unaccompanied verse, then a couple of easily memorable bars into a repeated verse intro at 2.02, interrupts the left hand to turn the page!??! Lol! Agree with others about the soprano voice recording imbalance which is a touch painful, and the tempo, but musically I enjoyed the tempo - especially the clarity it gave the last verse - still personally prefer a little quicker... thanks for posting. I enjoyed this :)

At first, I thought Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day was about the Virgin Mary coming of age!

Inspired by slow practice at rehearsal. But seriously, out of the thousands of times we have heard it, many too fast, or else essentially the same over and over again, nice to hear it as if for the 1st time.

As if you were at rehearsal????

Bryant Worth sure, I'll take that, if I can have that organ

Having sung this under Mr Gardner for 5 years, this is ridiculously slow - why? And no last verse descant is surely cowardly. From the score: "Fresh and lively (minim = 180)"
@andrewdoecke94583 жыл бұрын
I agree. Even Kings take it steadily. Too fast and words are lost.
@GreenAshR477 жыл бұрын
I would say it's really good if it for those one or two 1st soprano voices that too tight & throaty.
@joesoy91854 жыл бұрын
It doth plod somewhat and one treble stands out too much.
@BrownBeast776 жыл бұрын
I can only hear one treble (and I don't mean that in a good way). Need better balance

Those little boy voices should be controlled. Rising as they do, at volume, is a dissonance, an interruption. It jars. Listen to the choir at Westminster Cathedral, much more integrated.

Tooooo slow - read the score, matey.

Way too slow, not dancing or joyous at all, and nobody smiles? Singing is storytelling - you can’t sing this looking so bland and bored. I would take this video down and revise it.
