The Lord bull says he'll go where he wants to, thank you very much! Beautiful bull, should throw some great calves! I think the bull answered the question of whether to cross with the other cow himself when he went over that fence. Best laid plans and all that... Glad the Ginger enjoyed his holiday.

Ruairidh is a GREAT name ... 🙂😉 Rory is a male given name of Gaelic origin. It is an anglicisation of the Irish: Ruairí/Ruaidhrí and Scottish Gaelic: Ruairidh[2] and is common to the Irish, Highland Scots and their diasporas.[3] The meaning of the name is "red king", composed of ruadh ("red") and rígh ("king"). In Ireland and Scotland it is a masculine name and only rarely a female name.[4] So Lord Ruadh of Kelvin is literally the Red Lord of Kelvin.

A friend in the NE of the US had a Highland Jersey cross. He raised her up to pull his logs in for the fireplace and when she calved he milked her. He loved her because she was tough and gave extra milk. Perfect combo for cold winters.
@OriginalGlorfindel2 жыл бұрын
Im A Survivor Sanctuary here on youtube adopted a Brahma/Jersey cross, she was an orphan. Thier holstein cross steer (6' 5" at the shoulder) has taken her under his protection and they make a lovely pair. Im so curious to see how she will turn out... Jersey are so small and Brahma so large! But at least both breeds seem rather mellow.

With all that wool on him he probably just laughs at those puny electric fences! What a beauty. Would love to know how your half Angus half Highland beef turns out. The extra wool on the Highland marbles up the meat better because with that coat, they don't need to lay in fat under the skin too keep warm. You should get some PREMIUM quality meat from that cross - can't wait to see it in the shop and hear what your customers think of it!

He's a magnificent bull! Very placid too, but still has an enough of the right kind of oomph it seems! It would be nice to see you have a herd or herds of perhaps another two native British breeds. The Welsh Black to represent Wales and a breed from England, perhaps the English Longhorn and of course the Highlands and Angus too for Scotland. I noticed the Belted Galloway in Robert's field. Another interesting cow. Adding different herds makes it complicated though so I'm really just fantasising a bit too much and it isn't very pragmatic. It would still be nice to see in one place of course. I'm a bit of a fan of the Irish Dexter.

When we were block calving we would put any 3rd services as a “cocktail” 3 straws of cheap semen, usually longhorn, angus and Hereford The majority of calves resulting from this approach were longhorn calves!! I think your highland bull will have the same effect Doesn’t matter what the calf is, as long as the cow is in calf and you’re not having to cull her….
