Hi Tom. At 8:29 in the video if you tied a temporary wire to the gate and run it back the field to create a funnel so the highlands do t have anywhere to go. I often use this, it works great

If your water lines are copper we use heat tapes in the states. If its poly or pex i don't know. Might work. Ginger warrior has a world of knowledge.

Great video Tom, thinking about the water supply in cold weather is there any way you could run a water pipe through a muck pile to capture the free heat before circulating it to the troughs in the dairy shed. 🤔. It should raise the water temp by enough degrees to make it more comfortable for the cows to drink. I believe some farms have done similar to pre-heat the water to save money on heating bills, just a thought. 👍.

about water getting frozen than you could buy small aqua heater like people use for fish tanks but yeah you might need a power plug but than we can go old school and your father might have heard about that and that is one goldfish in bottom of the water tank to move the water but yeah it will still be cold but it dont freeze.

Straw is from Wheat, barley after it’s been combined.. then bailed…hay is grass that’s been cut then dried in the sun, then baled.
