Great video as always Tom. Please mate, wear a mask when working with saw dust or anything that fine. Trust me, you will thank me later on in life. I'm 36 and when I was 22 I had a pneumonia thorax and have scaring on my lung. Do you and your workers a favour and wear a mask bud. Just keep one in your pocket and use it when you need to 👍

if your gonna save the wood, consider making a rack maybe even out of some of it to organize it where you can pick up with the forks and put out of the way till you need it

With the wood, make a wood rack so you can stack it neatly and have air circulating around it so it doesn’t rot. Or have a bloody big bonfire on the 5th of November.

Great video and work. We did a big clean up on our farm in tipperary Ireland. It took 5 days to get sheds cleaned and power hose out for deperment inspection . We are locked up with tb and someone has to come out to see done before animals go in for winter.

Wood is de-nailed and put on a rack, what doesn't fit on a rack, is binned!.. its tough love 😂

@15:35 "What do you do with all the wood?" You make a primative lean-to wood rack right where that pile is, about 2-3m high, 3'5-4m long, with diagonal braces and horizontals to hold the wood. By the time you've made it, there won't be much wood left to rack, but it'll be there for the next lot, and then your salvaged wood won't rot away.

Most people store wood in a woodshed. Keeps it tidy, keeps it dry & prevents it from rotting. I remember a time when you only had a small dumping ground. It's amazing that you have such large area to dump so much more stuff without even extending the borders of your farm. What's needed is another roof level to store more stuff that you might NEVER use in the future. Tom did you happen to notice just how much drainage pipe your storing above ground when you were moving stuff around. You do realise if you buried that drainage pipe with some of that concrete hardcore you might be able to reduce the flooding on the farm. Great video. Oh before I forget, once again your promising a Sunday video. I am not holding my breath I'll watch it on Tuesday when you finally get round to posting it. Whatever happened to the Holland/German trip video?

Your mañana attitude to waste is magnificent! Throw it on the floor, complain or make excuses about the mess, then at a lot later date half heartedly move it around. A man after my own heart, but surprises me with your attention/concerns on anything that costs and has an effect on overall efficiency. 5th November on Tuesday, bonfire night. Burn the damn wood. That’s what you saved it for. Harvey, Henry and the other little ones will love it. Don’t feel guilty, let it go. Let it go! Otherwise keep it up.
@ericfunnell1901
@ericfunnell1901 3 сағат бұрын
Why not stack the wood on a skid or pallet. Then you can move it around easily if it needs to be moved. You won’t have to handle each piece each time Efficiency !!!

Tom, you need to find an area well away from the farm yard to dump stuff so the yard always looks tidy.
@exkatt

In fairness, I know it's nice to have a tidy yard but it's a farm at the end of the day. Very hard to keep it perfectly clean all the time and it always looks worse on camera than in person IMO.

@@SteveHubler-i7z nah op is right, my sister does it.. took a while to get in order but theres now a rubbish pile in the back field behind a strip of woodland which gets delt with 2-3 times a year.. rubble processed and sold or buried, wood stacked or burnt, metal reused for farm made gates/pens, repairs or scrapped.. tyres recycled etc.. the yard has been immaculate for a few years now, even made more space for a new calf shed and clamp :--)

@exkatt I agree with you. Every farm has old machinery, scrap metal, wood, tyres etc. All I'm saying is put it out of sight away from the main yard. It can be done, I've done it myself.

Plz put something in front of all that saw dust- so that the cow's don't get ahold of it again !!! Also if u could find a cheap used bin to put the Selco ? Then u could use the wood to make a cover for it and keep it DRY ! Or make a bin out of the woodOR MAKE A BIN OR OF THE WOOD. U wouldn't have to keep it in with the silage.

Great video Tom. You couldn't save the trees but you can save the timber😉. As others have commented you just need to find a space for a dedicated store, perhaps the next time you get rid of one of the milk delivery vans you could use the flat bed and its cover. You could then chuck a tarp over to keep the weather off. 🤔👍.
