Thank you for this. It shows the lubrication steps much better than the official Philips video.

Hi Tom! I have the same machine, and i suggest to the owner to replace the o rings. My maintenance is to wash the brew group onece a week, like Philips says to their manual...and once a few months i clean it generally, look at the o rings, grease the brew group and use those tablets for removing oil resulted from coffee. And a tip, even if Philips says that you can use up to 8 Aqua Clean filters without descaling...don't do that. After 2 filters, descale it with the Philips solution when the second filter is gone, get out that "sucker"😅 and do a descale. Happy espresso drinking!🙏🏻

On the filters - I stopped using them as the machine pipes got clogged with filter particles (no idea if it was a faulty filter or got over time). I filter the water and then add it to the tank. Have not had issues for a few years.

Wcale o niego nie dbam tak, jak mówią przepisy. Myję raz na 2-3 miesiące, a kaw robi dziennie 8 espresso, w niedziele i soboty macchiato 4x. Ekspres jest super !

Hi Tom, great video. I'm cleaning a brew group that hasn't been rinsed in a long while. It's grown mouldy in spots and is tacky and sticky all over. Rinsing with warm water isn't enough. I've seen there are dedicated cleaners, like Urnex Cafiza. I was curious if you knew if you can use regular dish soap? Are there any downsides to it, other than having to re-grease everything meticulously afterwards?
@123ViperR4 күн бұрын
What brew group is easier to clean and maintain? Philips or Delonghi? Trying to decide on these two but can't see a comparison for cleaning the brew group. Also, which one does a better job at compressing the coffee and at extraction?

Hi Tom, just bought a 3300 lattego and it seems like when I took out the brew group,the yellow slider on opposite side of the 'push to release" tab locked it self. Now after getting some really watered down coffees, released the tab and the machine seems well. Is it normal for that tab to lock when you take our the brew group? And what is its purpose? Thanks in advance and great content 👌

Hi, I have two questions, if you can answer I would be really glad😊 firstly, when I dissamble and try to clean brewing part like you, it was sticky because of the lubricant. If I try to clean it like you with a toothbrush, this sticky oil will stuck every corner of the brewing part :( how can I prevent this? is it safe to use dishwasher or anything else to prevent it? and secondly, I found worms in grewing part :( the machine was in my mom's house and she didn't use the machine for about a year.. I'm not sure the worms is just in brewing part. how can I clean it? :( thanks a lot!

Philips instructions are that you clean it once a week only with water and air dry it - not with paper towels or similar. Not sure why should you leave it to dry on air, is there a certain reason for that? Seems pretty solid build, can you damage anything, we just bought 5500 series and I'm kinda scared how to handle it, that I wouldn't break something 😅. What grease is that - it seems it very hard in my country to find more to buy it, not sure how long the one you get with machine will last? Also you should grease it every 2 months right?

Hello. The reason why it is not recommended to wipe the coffee brewing unit with any cloth or tissue is the risk of small particles and lint from them sticking to the moving parts of the machine, which could cause the mechanism to malfunction or seizure. Think of the brewing unit as a "machine" with very fine clearences. Enjoy your coffee!

Do the Delonghi brew group need grease as well. I couldn’t see any grease on it.
@TomsCoffeeCorner2 ай бұрын
Well, the Delonghi seems to be encapsulated. I’ve read that the bore can be greased. I’ll have to look further into it. We’ve used Delonghis at work for years, and I’m pretty sure we’ve not greased them.

@@TomsCoffeeCorner I did not shut down properly so the front latch piece did not skew back to default position. What I did was to put everything back in position, restart the machine, and then turn it off properly. The latch now is back to the place where I can remove the inner unit for washing. Now is working!

Anyone worried about the black plastic that's been in the news? Specifically of the brew group since it comes into contact with a lot of heat? Has Philips Saeco come out with anything about the safety of their machines?

Doesnt Philips recommend to soak the entire group for 5 min once a week? Looks like the owner forgot about that for a while 😂
