I have found it to be pretty decent as well , have put through about 1100 drinks through ours. I have been considering giving unit to my son to replace his 3200 and then buying the De'Longhi Dinamica with LatteCrema for better milk drinks and from what it seems a tad better tasting shots but I am unsure. Just gave ours a full cleaning and re greasing and it seems to be working well. I have wondered if it is worth having it serviced, seems if one does they become quieter again so considering that

Your reviews are always so clear, concise, and entertaining - it's like hanging out with a buddy who really knows their stuff (but way less boring than actually going coffee machine shopping, haha!). I have had the 5400 for about 4 months now, and I love it! Regular coffee is excellent...so much better than the pod coffee makers. I like the LatteGo system because it is so easy to use and clean, and I have found that using 1 or 2 percent milk makes for a better froth than whole milk...go figure, but the Facebook groups I belong to for the Philips machines, seem to agree. Mine never asks me to add water until it is almost empty. I have also kept my grinder setting at the factory 6 and it works just fine for all straight coffees and milk-based drinks. Loved your review!

I'm amazed that full fat milk is recommended, I'd always been annoyed in the past that low fat milk is the best for froth as I like to buy blue top but it doesn't froth up like semi-skimmed. I think the best I found was a low fat but high protein one so will be on the lookout for that again now I've got one of these machines :)

I got this machine a few months ago. I really like it. I tend to warm my cup before pouring. The flap is for pre ground coffee and to put the coffee cleaning tablets. The machine is not cheap but you do use your own bean’s instead of pods which will save you money in the long run. I am happy with this purchase. 8/10

If you're looking for genuine espresso, you'd need an espresso machine, rather than superautomatic coffee, but this can make passable drinks much easier. Jura is about as close as it comes to actual espresso in my opinion for superautos.

I had a Saeco Xsmall for 13 years ... and suddenly the motor from the coffee group stop working correctly. I still have hopes of reviving that machine for secondary duties ... but it was time to let it rest for a while. When looking for a replacement, i came up with the Philips Lattego, a simpler model the 2200 but basically similar features and build. on of the attractive features is that this machine has basically the same internals as my eternal Saeco ... that is a big plus. I am really happy with this machine, i just adjusted coffee grid and water quantity ... and we are in business. Btw the dosis is about 8g ... you can set up the water quantity with the presets, or adjust it from the custom config following the instructions available online. i put out about 16cc per full load ... and its a decent strong coffee. Just make it do 2x twice and you are in business. The nice thing about the LatteGo module, is that you can take it out and put it on the fridge easily. So yeah you can skip cleaning it every time with ease. I clean it once every liter or two of milk i ran through it (2-3 days).

I have had the 5400 for about 18 months. I had to return my first one after about 6 months as it was leaking from under the unit and flooding the work top. Retuned to Phillips and was sent back to me with the same issue as was not fixed. I retuned it to Currys as had there extended warranty. The issues I had with Currys i would never but any extended warranty. I have replaced the machine with the same model as I wanted a machine that did everything with out any fuss. Very happy with the machine but I would recommend warming the cups as I don’t find the coffee hot enough. I put a little water in the cup and microwave for 2. Mins for 2 cups. Overall I would definitely recommend very happy with the hassle free coffee. I do find it a little bit of a pain when cleaning.

I have to say I got one of those like a month and a half ago. I got puck of coffee really watery when using it in the 12 or 6 settings for the grinder. I use it in the 1. Using it like that, an after several coffees (like 4) the pucks are now like little cookies. I will measure those to know approximately how many grams uses per shot. In general makes decent to good coffee. The ristretto, is the one I like more. The milk based ones, are good. The one thing I love the most, is that I have a clean area with good coffees and minimal effort. Also, it lets you play with the ratios and that is something that I appreciate. My wife and I have different tastes on coffee, so, the profiles are a nice feature. In general I would say I am happy with the machine.

I have had this machine now for over 1 month. Key take aways for me. 1. The lower the number on grind, the finer the coffee. 2. I think it is not a bad machine. I have 4400 but it is the same just have 12-14 recopies not 20.... I agree with 1 point the grinder is not very "fine tunable". But otherwise all good. One thing you mentioning with the coffee settings for 1x Cup icon: you say "Doubling the amount" Which is sort of true... BUT the true feature here is that the machine outputs the coffee in 2 muzzles (pipe/hole). So you can put under it 2 CUPS one under each hole and make 2 cups of coffee at once (which is yes double amount).
