Excellent review Tom, as usual. I especially liked the basket comparison and the info about adjusting the OPV. I have to wonder why some manufacturers still insist on shipping machines from the factory with such high pressure, when it's known to cause sub-par extractions and increase the chance of channeling. There's absolutely no downside to setting machines to 9 bar, even if in practice the pressure will be around 8 bar (which is probably even better in most cases). One theory I heard is that 11+ bar pressure is required for ESE pod compatibility, but who really buys a machine like this to use it with pods? A couple of additional points: 1. The shot counter now counts up, but this is something that Lelit recently changed. Past models (I think up to about a year ago) counted down. If people are buying second hand, they should be aware of this. 2. I would much rather get a self-leveling tamper instead of a Lelit branded one. I think the self-leveling mechanism brings a real benefit that's worth paying a bit extra for. However finding one with a 57.35mm diameter is a bit of a challenge, but you can order a 58mm version from aliexpress and a 57.35mm custom base plate. I can add links to the relevant product pages if anyone is interested. All in all, a very appealing machine. I don't own one (I use a Bianca V3 and a Flair 58), but if I had to recommend a machine to a friend at this budget, the Grace would be my pick over popular (but more feature-thin) options like the Rancilio Silvia and Gaggia Classic Pro.
@TomsCoffeeCorner Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Yes, I have heard about the older models counting down. That seems really counter intuitive. Glad this one is updated (1.14 is the firmware). I really don't know why the OPV was set that high - I doubt anyone uses pods. I at least never have. It is too bad, that the accessories for 57mm are so few and far between. But, you might be able to unscrew this base, and put it on a Normcore self leveller for example. Anyway, thanks for sharing! Tom

Tom, you may also try to change the shower screen - I've bought an IMS screen and it was a game changer for me. Among others, the shot became much less prone to channeling. Because on mine, the gauge become fully charged and the PID displays my desired temperature (95 degrees) but continues to flash for a few minutes before displaying OK and stopping flashing. So I was wondering if the PID was properly calibrated/broken or if it was just a detail.

Thank you for the review Tom. I need your help please: Currently have a Gaggia Classic Evo since for only 4 months, bought brand new but have the already known "boilergate" issue, completely lost my confidence in the brand so I'm decided to switch to Lelit. I have 3 options: Anna (PL41TEM), Grace (PL81T) or Victoria (PL91T), Anna is 500 Euros, Grace is 650 Euros and Victoria 750 Euros. I know Anna is the oldest out here but read only good reviews about it and honestly I might be wrong but have a feeling that the quality of the important components was better in the past. So, which of the 3 do you think I should get? Other than 57mm vs 58mm what is the difference between Grace and Victoria? I rarely use the steam function, 99% of time drinking only espresso. PS: I'll use it with my current Eureka Mignon Specialita. HUGE Thank you for your help!!!😀

@TomsCoffeeCorner Жыл бұрын
Servus Jan!

@TomsCoffeeCorner Жыл бұрын
Hi there! I prefer the Grace because it's cheaper, and has a 250ml boiler, instead of the 300ml one in the Victoria. That makes the Grace slightly quicker to heat up. I also don't mind the 57mm, since Lelit makes some perfect accessories for it. They're in the video description if you're curious. Hope that helps!
@lt6717 Жыл бұрын
it's about the 58mm that is basically standard in proper espresso machines, so you will have access to a lot more aftermarket parts. If you're happy with it out of the box (besides the plastic tamper that comes with it) I think the Grace is offering a good value for money (I own one as well). Not sure if the Victoria is offering the most competitive package in its price band.

Hi Tom, thanks to your detailed review(s) I went ahead and bought a Victoria - wanted to stay at the 58mm standarts - but after I making a double shot, I steam my milk at about 140C degrees, so far so good, but when I want to make another double shot, I have to wait like 10 mins before the machine cools down to about 95C. During this period the pump runs briefly for 5-10 seconds once at the beginning and then it's simply just waiting. Do you think this waiting time is normal? Thank you!

Hi there! Honestly I think the Grace is the better choice.
