Dreame Ultra Robot Vacuum & Mop COMPARISON: L40 vs X40 Which one Should you Buy?

After watching the entire review, one thing I would suggest for future comparisons is to set up each robot equally when possible, especially when they are nearly identical models. The X40 had significantly more wear and tear on its implements, which led to inconclusive cleaning results. Additionally, the L40 was equipped with the standard rubber brush, whereas the X40 used the Tricut.

Love these videos. Robots have come a long way. I bought the Dreame x40 Ultra and love it. I have a smaller upstairs so ended up buying the less expensive Dreame L10s Ultra. It works pretty good but I would say they’ve made a lot of good improvements between the two. Thanks for the videos!!

15:38 I think there is either a bad or dirty sensor on your X40, look at how the mop pad hit the rug in the first pass, the L40 gave it an inch of hardwood clearance, and then it failed to extend on a corner, as well as then extending too early and not finishing the area completely. Might be something to look at. Judging by the dust port it's had it's fair use!

just bought the X40. It was 300 $ cheaper than the L40. Noise is not a concern. It's for the downstairs anyway.

I think ultrasonic means a sound frequency higher then what a human can hear while supersonic is an object that travels faster then the speed of sound. I think they both uses ultrasonic sensors, but the marketing team did a mistake

Hey, I don’t understand why the side brush doesn’t work when the robot vacuums carpets. When the robot gets as close as possible to the wall to vacuum a carpet that reaches it, it leaves an uncleaned strip. This suggests there is a gap between the suction area and the robot’s perimeter, creating a “dead zone.” I wonder if there’s a way to turn the side brush on. This could help push dirt into the suction area and improve cleaning performance in these situations, and if so, it would be great to test their “corner performance” again. Leaving those long, and quite big, uncleaned strips behind is a big NO for me. Thks for all your video, btw! Great work!

Dreame has it off and it can’t be turned on to get along the wall but they say it’s that way because the side brush will degrade a lot faster than it being on hard floor but they could’ve done it to where it’ll at least turn on its side brush when going against the wall so it doesn’t leave that line of dirt on the carpet

Hi, what I noticed in the video is the fact that the base unit of the x40 and the robot itself are poorly maintained. The l40 looks new and clean. If you start comparing the starting situation should be the same. Also the brushes used are different. A lot of people experience that the normal brush is better than the hair cutting version. I have the x40 and every month I clean the base unit and robot. Also replace items when it notifies me to do so. Result is a spot on cleaning result. I like your videos but in this one you start cleaning with a new l40 compared with a poorly maintained x40. Cleaning with dirty tools, give poor results. What I like about the x40 is the dirt detect. The side brush then does not brush into the dirt, making the site brush dirty.

I bought my l10 S ultra in July of 2023. When it arrived it made a loud noise. After seeing many reviews I knew it was not right. I took a video of it and I called support. The support person had me run the machine and immediately said no something is wrong I will send out a replacement unit. On top of that they sent me a package of replacement parts just to make up for the initial experience. That gained me as a customer. I do wish the virtual walls were a bit more controllable as they can be wonky and you have to get them just right. I also wish like my roomba it can have a no go zone of 1/2 foot. It’s 3’ for mine anyways which is way bigger than I need in some cases. YMMV.

I've Got to start these reviews as someone with advanced robotics background... Curious how the X40 experience will be for my scenario here... If ever in need of help with more technical things I'd love to connect to the RObnot vasccum community like you've made as ... I was the one always investing into future tech back when it was still very lacking with Roomba that ... literally became worse over time... Bad corporate choices... If they just kept the 980 style and sensors and added the front facing camera like in J7+ - to go with their Vision analysis navigation .... and obstacle avoidance ... to not add lidar up top and stay slim.. I mean they Had the means to make something .. Very good.. Not ever like these but .... Its just so sick to see what happened to roomba.. They could have had competitive robotsd so easily.. and I wish I could have my 960 and another in one apop and have stayed in that brand but what they became is horrible... Hoping 20254 will bring a lot of needed changes!

If the price is similar which one do you prefer? In dreamtech website says that the tricut brush is only in L40 model, not in x40. But I read some bad opinions about this brush. I dont know which one to buy between these two.

The dreame tricut brush can be bought separately and is compatible with both, so it's really just a matter of if you want it or not. It's just $50. If you don't have a pet you don't need it. The tricut performs worse than standard as far as cleaning is concerned. I dont have a pet so I just remove the brush from my standard brush now and then. I dont own any of these. I have an old vacuum.

X40 have dual laser, L40 single. X40 have 6400mAh battery, L40 5200, X40 have 12000 Pa, L40 11000, X40 wash mop in 70 degree, L40 in 65.
