The detour is less than 5 miles. With the cost of damage to their cars it might actually be cheaper to turn round, drive to Heathrow, fly to Nottingham and then get a taxi to their destination.

Once the water has gone past the air filter it's too late, drying the air filter out won't help, the damage is done.The water is physically stopping the engine from turning over. Attempting to start just wrecks things even more....at least they're keeping the local garages busy 🤣

I used to drive taxis and got stuck once right in middle engine stopped the lot. I panicked opened the door and water came flooding in so closed it said a prayer and started the engine . It started and I put it in 2nd gear and we drove out . I drove all way to Newark the car intact . Things could have been alot worse especially when I rented the car from the taxi company lol 😆

i don't understand what people expect there to happen? i get those locals with old bangers who do it for entertainment, but people who try to go thru with expensive cars or work vans, just WHY? anyone with common sense would realize that 99% of stock vehicles won't make it thru cuz engine will hydrolock. and second dumb thing, if you absolutely HAVE to give it a try, just go backwards and with bit more speed .. there's a good chance that water won't reach the air intake if you go backwards and faster.

Does it say how deep the water is? Pretty easy to just misjudge it unless there were signs, I was out for a walk once and there was a really flooded bit of road. I got a long stick and used it to probe how deep it was for a car trying to cross, it was just under 2 feet so he made it but it could have been 1 foot or could have been 4, really hard to tell.

That first fellow isn't very smart is he? Firstly, what was he thinking? 3 feet of water is nothing you want to go into unless you're a tank or equipped with a snorkel. Second;- using the A pillar as a tow point is not a recommended technique......BTW, what's the point of having a depth warning when evidently NOBODY care to look at it before taking the plunge?

These knobs still don't have enough sense to tow their car from the reinforced tow points or tie down shackles. You just got to know where they are by feeling them (under or in the front and rear bumpers) if they're underwater. Don't tie the strap around the A pillars...a good yank can distort the sheet metal and make it so the windows never close again properly EDIT: looks like that's what happened 3:37. The front doors are bent and are stuck closed. Doesn't matter much anyway, the car is probably total loss.
