TomTom Bandit Camera - Helmet Mounting

Finally GoPro is gone from my life, welcome Tom Tom! Here is a quick run down on fitting the new camera to my Schuberth helmet.

Hi. Great vid. I too have ditched the GoPro - gone forever!!!! I bought TomTom Bandit recently, tested for a week off roading in Spain. Fantastic footage, no issues what so ever. I bought a second battery and recorded approx 5-6 hours footage. I love it!!!!!

It has a mic near the lens and if you get the full waterproof lens cover it muffles it a little bit, (which is good because this mic pics up EVERYTHING) there is a piece that goes in the cover that muffles and keeps water off of the mic as well. I like it!

I was actually expecting you to show how you stick the plastic thing on the helmet!!! I am mounting mine for the first time and i am so scared to drop it in my fist ride. Thanks any way, it helped since I can imagine the rest of the procedure. (I just don't trust the plastic base much). :P

Yes and it's pretty good (at low speeds).

It's very loud, the mic picks up everything which is why you put the muffler on it to keep out the wind noise..

I have one on these mounted on my Schuberth helmet as well. I mounted my on top of mine. I get around 2.5 hours on recording time from mine and that's fine for commuting to work but a longer recording time for bike touring would be better. Its a great camera with very few down sides. The only real things I don't like is the ratchet devise on the mount as its to weak and lets the housing move around so if off road ride through brush or trees it can get knocked and your video could end up tilted sideways. And the editing program is just TO basic and it needs some serious work to bring up to a level that is really useful.

Is the camera waterproof with he mic ?

It's waterproof against rain. But if you want to dive into water you need a different lens. It costs around 30€ and is up to 50m deep water save.

Hi Pip, can you please upload some sample videos with tomtom bandit, would be keen to have a look of purchasing one, I am not a big fan of Gopro too as they are all overly priced as they shouldnt be around $4 -500 for such quality, it would be nice if you can chin mount tomtom but it will look strange...nice helmet btw, I srsly dont know where to get them in Aus land, I saw them revzilla, they cost about 1k....

Howdy :) Yes I will be posting a video shortly and share my thoughts with everyone :) Helmet was purchased from Revzilla, they had a clearance on the Schuberth C3's for $500 delivered, was a steal!

I would not hesitate to buy a Schuberth, they have higher reviews than Arai and Shoei, I think the main issue is head size and fit, if I have not tried it on, I would not buy it, but you include the freight cost, it is still cheaper to buy overseas than buying it here, I paid nearly $500 for my helmet (Kabuto). For the same price I will buy the Schuberth no doubts. I know harvey norman just got sale for tomtom, prob means new models of action cam are coming soon

Sizing is less of an issue than you might think, shell sizes carry across between 2 sizes each so you can just swap out the padding. I am a medium Shoei and I brought a medium Schubert, turns out I was a large but got the pro padding for $50.

You're right, a GoPro (or a clone) on top or side makes you look like clown. But why the Bandit? There are even more elegant helmet camera's with same price and specs, like the Sena Prism Tube, Drift Ghost-S.

3 cameras in a row were faulty which consistently shut down after about 3 minutes. SD card as recommended by TomTom.I missed filming my family at Christmas and a new year mountain bike tour. It guiles me that I sold my old camera to pay for this! None of the TomTom cameras made it off my kitchen table let alone experience the brutality of a bike. It is still an ongoing refund issue with TomTom more than 2 months later. Customer care after the sale does not exist. The software is very poor too. Utter rubbish. Photospecialist should be very wary of this product in my opinion

If you hate the Tom Tom bandit so much then why the hell do you keep using it? I love it! It's exactly what I wanted and expected!!!
