Tomy in Japan made the best mechanical toys in the 1980's of anyone. This is very basic but still a great design.

The translucent Green is a cool variation !

Yes , I love being able to see inside, sort of like the Translucent Apple "all in one" computer that was sold at that time.

Pretty nifty! New to me...and only 1 battery? Only Japan can pull that off. Again the 'sumo' wrestler belt look, least on the red/white one.

Yes Tomy Japan did a great job designing toys. The 1 battery "1.5 volt" system was not new, lots of the 1950's and 1960's toys were 1.5 volts, but batteries were so crapy that they would put in 2 Batteries in parrallel "still 1.5 volts" for longer life.

I have the green and purple version.

Ok I see the pattern now, I guess the whole series has multiple colorways. This time I prefer the purple version on the right to my white and red one.

Those are cute. I wonder about the flip function though. It probably wouldn’t fall over on its own. So I assume it would happen only when it was purposely tipped over, like what you did.

Or if the robot runs into a wall or object, if the arms came around that should knock it over so it can flip.
