Definitely need to be able to see into the bridge on this like the original. Also, the side green windows need to look more professional as the prototype shows lack of care and straightness

I’m really excited for this replica. I’ve seen many pre-built high-end replicas of the USS Enterprise from companies like QMX, Avonos, and Factory Entertainment and they all are well detailed, but even at the 4 or 5 figure price tags they sport, I still don’t think they have the archive access or the pool of experts behind this $700 one for theirs. That being said, this could be one of the most accurate replicas ever.

Agreed. Tomy has a good team and is working closely with a great group of experts. They have access to information other companies did not. What else can we ask for at this price point? It is a win-win period.

With over 3400 backers, I'm a little concerned about quality. Sure, they say shipping at the end of October. It could be months after that till I receive mine. Don't get me wrong, I'm still gonna get one.

@@markmcmillan6254 valid concern. The larger the edition size, the easier is to take corners on quality control. However, it also means plenty spare parts for repairs and returns. We’ll see.

Yeah, it also means they can refine the product over time. You never want to buy the first new model car from the factory, let them make a lot more and get good at it.

They are getting the money ahead of time to cover expenses...they have already raised almost 4 million. I mean we will see but everyone loves their TOS Enterprise. This should be even better.

I have always wanted a model of this ship; the Enterprise refit is the best looking scifi ship ever.

@@MarkMcAllister-ni9sf That's not the way it works, when they get done producing this Refit they'll destroy the molds and never make it again, same is the original Enterprise from last year. If you don't get it now during their fundraising stage you'll never get it from Tomy again. You'll pay out the you know what on Ebay just after they ship them, that's for sure.

@@chrisfischer7918 I think they will or they will at least try to. Keep in mind that what we see here is just a prototype. There will be a few revisions before production begins.

JP, you're the guy who introduced me to this line with the TOS Enterprise from last year. I loved your review and regretted not knowing about the campaign. There were a few loud detractors of the piece, but I was unswayed based on how good it looked in reviews. I hope they'll do an even better job with this one.

I think they’ll do. These guys are committed to see it through. The same team who worked on the original and also on the Delorean. Really cool guys.

@@ocramocram1they do. You get newsletters and also video updates through KZbin and Facebook. They did close the Facebook group for the Delorean though, because that group got really toxic in the end. So as of now, we are getting updates only via e-mail and through Kickstarter (the platform used last year).

@@jpsarri Oh wow. I don't know what it is about collectors and toxicity. I've seen that with Star Wars models as well. Being passionate is one thing, but toxicity is something else. With regards to TOS, I've seen people calling it "garbage" and that it "sucks". That just blows my mind. There are videos doing a direct comparison with the Tomy and Polar Lights, and the differences are hardly noticeable. For $600, are you kidding me? They could be charging double for these.

@@ocramocram1 exactly. The Polar Lights comes unassembled and the final result will vary according to your skills. Not everyone is a modeler. In the end, people will pay 3 times or more than this if they want it done right. This one out of the box is a bargain. Money well spent. It would be sturdier and well crafted. I take this over any Master Replicas or Eaglemoss version any day of the week. A full die-cast model has never been done. IF there is a company that can pull it off, it is Tomy / ERTL. They are the best in the diecast business. No one else comes close at this scale.
