Both of these are works whose colours really shine on an organ pitched in A495. BWV 564 is just joyously bright in the best way, and 538 has a real pathos to it in what's effectively E minor.

This is the most beautiful record I've ever heard about Bach's music. The adagio was able to make me cry. It`s a painfull music, but at the same time, it give you the hope of the light, the view that you, someday, somwhere, you'll find out what are you looking for. Just don't give up. Wonderlful.

Tepper Michael.

Master Ton Koopman superbly feels Mesure . Because of this, his game on the organ is gorgeous. Listening to the music one ceases to perceive everything around and even yourself - only the faithful musical substance !!! Tepper Michael.

This is overwhelmingly beautiful. Koopman brings the beauty out of BWV 564, which is one of my favorites (BWV 552 is the only piece of music I think is actually better)

frrixz I totally agree to what you said about 564.

It seems to me that J.S.Bach in some of his organ works manifests himself as Zeus, and Koopman is his Friend !!! Tepper Michael.

Is there a CD from this recording available? If yes which is it?

Think this is a Deutsche Grammophon recording which was released in the early 1980s. It was recorded in 3D stereo. The performance is very familiar and the sound quality matches, with its reverb. It was one of the first classical recordings I heard, and one of the first tape cassettes I owned. The recording was re-released on CD but is now hard to find. However, there are many subsequent recordings available from Ton Koopman on various labels. His complete Bach Organ Works on Teldec is one of the very best available, alongside Peter Hurford's classic Decca set. There are other versions from Koopman on other labels which have even better performances or sound, however it varies from piece to piece and organ to organ. So for a consistently excellent box set, the Teldec is one to check out. It will go out of print in future and prices will rise. The quality of Koopman's scholarly and improvisational performances are not likely to be equalled soon.
