- Dead is dead. When I die, the campaign ends.
- Full realism settings. Only the external camera is allowed for filming purposes
- Manual Targeting
- No recognition manual for random merchant ships
- Attempt to abide by the historical orders in regards to the London Naval Treaty, Operating Procedures and Restrictions

I always love watching a good gunfight, especially when the enemy is shooting back. This episode beats out the previous 2v1 deck gun battle with the two coastal tankers by far.

Always enjoy seeing episodes - even if there's nothing that happens. It's easy to get frustrated at not finding anything so it's always good to see that no matter how good you are at the game, you can always have a bit of dry run. Besides, it's all part of the story of the boat and crew so it's good to see it.

Only in a sub series can we hear "it's a red flag" and assume it's a good thing. XD Edit : even if the torpedoes missed, it must be a relief for the crew and yourself to add some tonnage to your tally. Let's hope the next patrol is less buggy. ^^

I hope you feature more of the external camera following the torpedoes in your vids. It's always nice (although sometimes frustrating) to know you technically scored a hit, but the fish failed to do it's job. If you don't wanna do it for your sake (learning from known mistakes and not just guessing what went wrong), then maybe for the people watching this series...

I echo the majority and saying if you have a dull patrol please release it. In fact you could use it as a letter reading for the crew. So we can get to know them a little bit better. Trying connect with them. Having served in the US Navy. I can say that's what Built brotherhood amongst the rest of us.

Jeez Tonci your deck gun knife fighters really get nail biting at times.....lucky that shell that got super close fell short and hit the water a bit too early, it must've lost most of its energy but surely it musta left a dent in the hull.

Your calculations were good, I cant find any faults on your part, must of been 2 duds and 2 misses. You got them in the end, great video ones again. *Yes videos even without anything happening is great, take a break/ vacation with crew between patrols if ok if you want 👌

The G7's pistols were still a little flakey at this point, but at least they aren't Mk14's. With all the issues that plagued those disastrous hunks of crap, you'd be more apt to sink a ship by assembling the crew on deck and having them scream obscenities at it as you passed by.

@@Tonci87 Like a Quartermaster who held a patent on the impact pistol used in the torpedo who insisted everything was just fine until he eventually got tossed out on his rear? Well, technically he wasn't entirely wrong. The pistol did work fine in the previous torpedo model. It was the fact they turned it so the firing pin ran perpendicular to the direction of travel when they put it in the Mk14. His outright refusal to listen to the crew's complaints also kept it from being addressed. The fact that there were several other issues that all kind of masked each other didn't help either. Nor did the fact that the Navy refused to allow test firings since this was a time when the government actually cared about things like budgets. What a crazy concept, government sticking to a budget. Lol.

WRT the torpedo misses, I can't definitively say it's a bug, but you have to be careful when you have a mixed bag of steam and electric fish. If you set the steam torpedoes higher than slow speed, even if you don't have them selected, the TDC seems to use the higher torpedo speed for the slower electric fish. I have seen my electric torps miss astern with this situation many times. I think you're past the timeframe where the torp malfunctions are likely.

Interesting - perhaps the TDC has a glitch in resetting between torpedo speeds.

I am surprised you made a submerged night attack instead of the usual surfaced attack especially on unescorted targets.I suppose your previous experiences made you more cautious.Its a shame that all your torpedos missed but your deck gun crew saved the day(or night to be more precise).

Well the Hydrophone operator should be able to pick up sounds of water rushing in, bulkheads breaking, etc.

Because at the point that he's directly ahead of them - AoB 0 - he can mark where they are from his view and he'll be able to extrapolate out their course. At that point it becomes easy to determine how far away you are from their track (i.e. Range) and where they are on their track - therefore getting the Angle on Bow pretty much for free. At that point the only information you have to worry about gathering is speed.

No, 5 is usually ok for such ships. You don`t want the torp to detonate too close to the surface since a lot of the energy will go upwards, out of the water (no idea if that is actually modeled in the game)

I'd like to see the nothing represented in a montage, but I'd like to see Something happen in each episode even if that something leads nowhere. If you have a good idea to make an episode where nothing happens, entertaining & educational I'm all for it, but going forward I wouldn't want to see the last episode again

Hey Tonci, on your second measurement I think that ship sped up to at least 13-14 knots based on its length and the fact it crossed your sights in 24 seconds. Would that be accurate?
