Tondo - The Most "Dangerous" Place In The Philippines - Manila's Highest Crime Rate Slum 🇵🇭

Tondo, a densely populated slum in Manila, is considered by Google to be the most dangerous place in the Philippines. However, my experiences as a foreigner were quite different. I encountered many smiles, happy kids, and hospitable locals who welcomed me with open arms. Although I arrived in Tondo with different expectations and was more cautious than in other places in Manila, I was pleasantly surprised.

Danger comes during nighttime in those places when the bad elements appear. It is always good to be on the side of caution. Otherwise, Filipinos are generally a hospitable and welcoming people especially to foreigners. They will put their best feet forward and go to lengths in order to please guests.

Tondo is big. It's not only slum in happy land. Tondo's crime rate is not as worse as many people imagine. Tondo has high rise condos, malls, schools, banks, churches, townhouses, bungalows, commerical and residential areas. Yes, it is densely packed but they are not all slums. Only 5% of city of Manila are squatters or slums as per Metro Manila Development Authority survey in 2019.

Tondo is being served by two LRT stations namely, Bluementritt and R. Papa. Tondo is also accessible via PNR train Tutuban.

Hi Davud, This place Happy Land Tondo was emblazed by huge fire 4 days ago. about 140 houses were burned down. Firefighters who responded where shot by the residence. one of them died.
