Great episode! Andy is a gem. His channel and socials are great and he is VERY generous with his time and what he is prepared to share for free. Love his playing! Great versatility in his playing whether he is playing on his own, or the flatts or his mandolin 😎👌

Dear Tonetalk Crew, thanks for the shows. I totally understand the love hate relationship with Mesa Boogie amps. I am on my third Mark III and in the process of selling it again. I was constantly tweaking the volume and EQ pots plus the graphic EQ sliders. Got myself a new Soldano - no tweaking pots anymore , it just inspires me to play the guitar 😊Greetings from Munich, Germany Christian

Hands down your best guest to date. His level of knowledge and communication is, unsurprisingly, a level beyond. Please get more guests like Andy who can easy and comfortably fly on-topic (no offence Mick). That is wasn't necessary to dwell at all on Andy's monstrous technique and consummate musicality is proof that this was a rare podcast where the forum was helmed by (all three) adults and experts who didn't need to prove crap. Bravo to all involved. But for those new to Andy - check him out, because he's one of the key monsters for our time.

I’m 52. I went to concerts as a kid and I remember a lot of shows where I couldn’t hear the singer. It was loud but the mix left a lot to be desired. Most shows I go to today have a clear mix where I can hear everything being played and sung from the stage. I agree about the missing low mids but it was far from perfect back then. Despite me disagreeing with you on some things, I still love the show and watch them all.

Great show guys, I had a similar musical upbringing ad Andy’s, growing up bluegrass mandolin/fiddle, then I got a copy of the Allman brothers “Live at The Filmore East” at the age of 14 and became totally obsessed with electric guitar. Got a job at the age of 21 with Jerry Reed playing guitar and fiddle. My life has never been the same lol 😂. Keep the great shows coming guys. I love them all..! ✌️

I 100% agree with Dave - saw AC/DC and VH each multiple times in the 80s into the early 90s, and those were the loudest shows my ears ever heard. Never distorted. Just loud as F.

There's a video here on KZbin of guitar summit of Andy playing the james gang's Funk 49 with phil x and Jarrod Nichols. Andy just tears it up😮 I never knew he was that great until seeing that! No matter how great you think he is , times that by 2!

If Andy's comment at 30:20 creates a wave in the VH world, regarding Carnal Knowledge, my favourite VH album, sound and playing-wise, is Balance.

I wish you guys would do a stream of just looking at Sweetwater and talking about gear. They would probably pay more for those streams!

Almost skipped this episode; it’s one of my faves. The string tension “fans” stretching and the two tuner length is real shit. I worked at a guitar shop in 97-2002 (started at 20)….anyways it’s legit

Don’t buy this guy’s line of thought, just buy a lightly used one. And don’t make it your primary car unless you just don’t drive that much. If you live out in the middle of nowhere and driving is your religion, it might not be for you.
