It's more important to change an oil filter than the actual oil. You can't hurt oil, only make it dirty. You can however ruin good oil by pushing it through an old filter

You're using the very best oil you can buy, but you need to change the oil filter EVERY TIME you change oil!

I was told otherwise by the dealership. Did this on my Skandic 900 ACE no issues.

@@endurancekennels I don't think the dealership knows much about oils and filters! I Have gone to many schools on oils and filters, and I have Always been told to change the filter each and EVERY time the oil is changed, and the contaminants in the old filter can get into the new oil, as well as the filter could already be plugged or partially plugged with contaminants, which could cause the filter to be "By-PASSING" the oil around the filtering media within the filter, as there is a BY-PASS Valve in the filter that opens when the filter gets filled with dirty contaminants . (you would not know that if it were happening)
